By some luck i was happend to get a coffee at the same time as a member of upper management in HP, dublin when i said "morning" as you do. We got talking and it turns out he was a press photographer for 15 years before moving into HP. I mentioned my interest in getting into Freelance sports photography and 10 mins later he comes down tells me he has pulled a few strings and i know have a press pass for the Ireland vs Sweden football game on at Lansdown Rd on Wednesday!!

Happy days.

Question for thoese in the know.

I have a D70, upper ISO is 1600 will this be enough for a flodlit game of footy "soccer" for the USA heads. I have a Nikon 70-300 ml lense Not the best for this but i can not afford a sports lense unless i get regular work from sports photography

if any tips they would be great

Thanks
Darren

Congratulations! This is a big chance for you, if you happen to get a good or even great shot this could boost your career immensely. It's not easy to get in on a game as a sideline photographer. I suggest you research possible positions to set up. I think most sideliners use monopods, if you don't have one you should rent it.

Which brings me to my point: is all you have is 300mm, I strongly suggest you go and rent a bigger, faster lens and shoot at a low ISO as possible. If you find a shop that can rent for even a day, you're set. It will be worth it! Also, consider borrowing or bringing along a backup camera, maybe film? And lots of batteries! And Good Luck! :D

Looking forward to the results...
