This is fun... I never would've figured it out, my husband didn't do too bad!

Here are the rules in english:
There is a single mother with two daughters, and a single father with two sons, and a policeman who has a criminal in custody. You must follow the rules below to get them across a river. The following rules apply:

- Everybody has to cross the river.

- Only 2 persons on the raft at one time

- The father cannot stay with any of the daughters without their mother's presence

- The mother cannot stay with any of the sons without their father's presence

- The thief (stripe shirt) cannot stay with any family member if the policeman is not there

- Only the Father, the Mother and the Policeman know how to operate the raft.

Read these directions and then click on the link below:

-To start click on the big blue circle on the right (ignore the other two blue buttons).
-To move the people click on them.
-To move the raft click on the pole on the opposite side of the river.

Take the test

See how long it takes you to figure it out.

Petals Around the Rose

The river took me almost 20 minutes.

I caught on to the solution to the rose on my second roll.

The river I'd done before. Petals around the rose, 3rd roll. That's a fascinating game. It took Bill Gates many hours to figure it out, and it was driving him crazy, according to Wikipedia...

I realize that the Petals Around The Rose game is solved rather easily by you guys here in DPC. May I conclude that you all have the advantage of a more creative brain. It helps solving the Rose puzzle, but lets not discuss about it too much so we wont spoil the fun for the rest :)

p/s: it took me 10 mins to solve the Rose, but I havent solved the river yet, damn! UPDATE: solved the River puzzle! took me 20 mins!

quoted from the website "While some students would solve the problem right away, others would struggle all semester. It had taken Dr. Duke well over a year himself, and he would always explain that the smarter you were, the longer it took to figure it out"

so if you cant figure it out, dont feel bad - you're just smarter :p

Great! That means I'm truely stupid as I figured it out before I started. ( A back handed boast )

The River, I kept making the man and the woman ride the raft together again and again hoping something would happen between them so they stop hitting eachother's kids... but in vain.

careful... after the 18th time with the man & woman crossing the river together, suddenly popped up another 2 children - a boy and a girl - adds to the difficulty of the damn puzzle! :p
