Ok, quick question.

Challenge Description: "Use a non-stationary light source as the primary method of illuminating your subject in a creative manner."

So as I read this, fill flash or some type of flash may be used, as long as it is not the "primary" source of illumination???

Sorry, somewhat new to the challenges, and just don't want to de DQ'd for some stupid reason... :) Thanks.

That's how I'm reading it, too. So if we both think it's so, it must be!

Remington, missing the challenge topic isn't reason for DQ anyway, it's only your vote that MIGHT suffer for it.... even though often enough getting the topic right doesn't seem to matter one little bit.

Ahhh, gotcha. Cool, thanks for the tip- I appreciate it.

Remington,
I am fairly new here too...I went and searched the Challenges History and in 2004 there was a previous challenge with this name but Advanced Editing...I went and checked out what was there to get an idea..

Yeah, I am at a loss too! I don't think I will be able to compete with my own from the last PWL challenge.

I wonder how it would score if I did it again!? ;)

Hmmm, didn't quite catch that "primary light source" part. That's going to be touch and go with my entry...

What about natural light? Sun is a moving light source...

Um that's stretching it yanko :P

The lights of my house are actually hurtling through space an an incredible rate. It took all the skill I had as a photographer to capture it properly...

Actually, the sun is pretty much a stationary light source. If it starts moving, we may have a problem...

I wana play.

The light is already painting by moving!

the speed of light = 299 792 458 m / s

"It's not just a good idea its the law!"

So my cat pic should get a 7! LOL

EDIT: Man I need some sleep.

Probably but I was kinda thinking about using the sun as an effect similar to a sundial where the movement of the sun makes the shot. Anyway, nothing came to mind so I didn't enter.

You pull that one off in basic editing yank and I'll not only give you a 10, I'll create 2 ghost accounts and give you 2 more...

Then I would start stacking those ND filters up the kazoo! for you to trace it's motion, that's one long a$$ exposure :)

should have thought about that for the motion panning challenge... :)

I do forget a few cameras out there do allow for traditional double exposures, so I should be careful. I guess it would be possible with one of those...

Ya, I'm in this one. We'll see how it goes. I like the shot a lot, but there may be...ummm...issues.

Yeah that didn't appeal to me. I was thinking more long the lines of a shorter exposure that maybe bent the sunlight with just the slightest movement but that seemed like too pie in the sky and also too much work. :) Plus I haven't really given it much thought until now. :(

I'll keep that in mind for the third version of this challenge. :)

I observe from the entries that some people seem to think that having streaks of light is equivalent to light painting. This is not so. True, there may be streaks of light as a result of applying this technique, but is also perfectly possible to have even lighting in such an image.
