Okay, after all the debate I got myself a Lightsphere II from Mr. Fong. Got it today and no joke it works, works, works. You must trust me (only if you are on the fence and want one). I did a quick test of everything the same side-by-side immediate result (non-scientific test). And it simply works. Brighter, more even distribution of light, nearly complete shadowless subject, etc. etc. Okay, just wanted to spread the good word for everyone. Old subject, but needed to help everyone out. I think laurielblack has one on the way too, so she might give her results too.

Hehehe...got mine Monday and yes, it works. Well worth the $48. I took a whole bunch of pictures for Heart with it...but can't show you any until the challenge ends, or else I'd be branded a cheater and a shmuck and all other sorts of ill-natured things. ;)

This quick snap of myself was using the lightsphere...I was holding the cam out at arm's length and had the flash was a tiny bit too bright but you can see that the light is pretty even. I'll post more images after heart ends. :)

Edited because I can't spell today!

Out of curiousity, does anyone know how the LightSphere (either version) compares to a Stofen OmniBounce or a Lumiquest 80-20?

So I take it these are in stock and ready to ship. I was going to get one a few weeks ago after lurking on that discussion. However, someone mentioned that Mr Fong didn't have any at that time. So if they are now in stock, count me in for one!

Got mine yesterday, will try it out this weekend for my 80's shot. Quick shipping.

I think we're going to increase Mr Fong's sales 10-fold today!

Perhaps we should pool our funds and buy in bulk. Maybe Mr. Fong would give a wholesale price or a discount for a large order. I was gonna get one as well.

What do you all think about that?

02/16/2006 07:00:35 PM · #18
Actually, I was already planning to buy one when we get our SLR. The little demonstration video on his site pretty much convinced me.

My return was delayed because of my own stupidity though :o( waiting sux.

yeah, and would the shipping adress for that bulk order be your house? :OP

I really don’t want that job. I think he could ship individually but we could pool the money and pay at once. But then the question is who handles the money. I say MK. I know I am new here and she doesn’t know me from Adam but she seems honest to me.

Any way it was just a thought. I am always looking to maximize my dollar.

Best Regards

I'm kinda late to this particular party, but I have to agree.

Cool! I just ordered mine today and saw this thread. The photographer at a friends wedding this past weekend used one and he swears by it. I got one per his recommendation. I can't wait to get it and try it out!

This and the next one were taken with the new Lightsphere II 'cloud'. Note that on the second photo, she's just inches from the wall. I'll be doing more testing with it this weekend.

I ordered one last week and got it in just a few days, so Gary Fong's crew is very fast at shipping. I haven't had a chance to use it yet, but I am excited to hear how well it works.

I want one too!

Oh, and could you get me the 580EX so I'll have something to put it on?

Thanks!
