Greetings...

I recently added this photo to my "Railroad" collection and would love to hear any thoughts and/or criticisms you may have on it...

Thanks :)

The picture looks out of balance to me. You have cropped the wheels to make a very symetric form but the tank contradicts that effect. Also the very head on approach eliminates any perspective that the engine could have made.

I like the tones, and the wheels. I don't really like the reflections on the tank.

I think this is simply another shot of some wheels in your train series. The 'Applied Power' shot worked a lot better for me because it was clearly focusing on the wheel mechanism. Steam Power III seems to be neither a shot of the whole body, or of the mechanics ... it lingers in between. I find Remnants III and IV a lot more stimulating, as they have definite purpose and intent.

In Steam Power III, I probably would've cropped it down to cover just the wheels. Just personal taste though.

I agree with the comment about the tank feeling off balance. The wheels are balanced, and that part looks great, but then the tank throws it all off a bit. I'm not sure what the best solution would be, but maybe by expanding the crop outward and including more of the right side of the tank may help. It looks like you did the best you could to get a symetrical shot of the wheels.

Still, it's always good to see your new work.
