Hi,
I really want to get the battery grip for my 350D, because (like smoking) it makes you look cool... well, that and I'm getting into star trails and need the extra juice. ANYWAY, first port of call is always Ebay, and I've come across THESE CHEAP BATTERY GRIPS

They are from germany, and although the english is a bit broken, they seem IDENTICAL to BG-E3 just without the canon stamp, they have one for the 300d also (or have they just photoshopped a photo of the BG-E3?). The feedback for the same product seems pretty good. Has anyone seen/used these before? are they kosher? or is it safer to just save up for the "proper" one? I'd really appreciate some advice before I order one.

Thanks for you time
Mark

The battery grip was one of my best investments so far. I have camera shake pretty bad and it really helped balance out my XT. Taking vertical shots is much nicer, too.

I got the actual Canon grip from a private seller on eBay and the transaction was a nightmare. Mind you, this was my first bad one out of over a hundred transactions. Anyway, when it was all said and done I could have just bought it off of Amazon for about the same price and saved myself a lot of hassle. I'd get a couple of extra batteries, too. That way you've always got a spare in your bag if needed.

I have the canon one and got it when I got my camera and its worth its weight in gold. As for extra batteries you shouldn't need any more then the 2 that will be in it cuz I don't think I have ever run out of juice on a shoot even when it says batteries low. I could see getting extras if your in the bush for a while tho and cannot find a place to change them.

How much cheaper is it anyway??? Mine grip came with 1 battery anyway.

Cheers guys! If I get it in the UK its about £110, so this one is about £30 cheaper, not a lot i guess. But if the only difference is the lack of the Canon label then its better off in my pocket than Canons!

I might contact some of the other buyers off of ebay who bought the same one. I didnt find the 350D too hard to grip, but I find my pinky resting underneath it, when I put my flash on it now it become a quite unstable, so I'm glad to hear its worth it!
