I have begun a project of photographing statues, I have one of these posted, I'd appreciate any comments.

Pity the top of the mane has been cropped, in the B&W version you seem to have lost a lot of detail in the shadow.
other wise nice picture and good project to do.

Like Ben said, the top should have been in the picture. The lighting is too directional. It casts a weird shadow inside the mouth. Might wanna take another photo on a cloudy day, slightly higher.
I wonder what your procedure is for converting to black and white. Use Channel Mixture in Photoshop, that will give you more control over the details.

Thanks for the input, I'm working on an edit that includes the top of the mane, I'll post it when its finished. |
