I will be in the Daytona area from April 2nd - The 8th..

Anyone close? Too early to plan?

Lemme know, would love to hook-up with some people for a day of shooting.

I'm no fan of Daytona. However there are some nice opportunities for nature photographers here. (Although it's not especially evident by my work:() If anyone wants to do a kayak trip down the scenic Sebastian River, or go out in the boat on the Indian River Lagoon, or hike through a buffer preserve, there are lots of alligators, fish, stingrays, manatees, red cockaded woodpeckers, wild orchids, eagles and tons of other birds. Not to mention wind surfers, kite surfers, surfers, boats etc.

I'd be up for hosting something of this nature for a small group.

I am out on the Gulf Coast but wouldn't mind a trek to the other side for a GTG. Daytona is ok, but there is a nice lighthouse at Ponce Inlet. I would love to take Roxanne up on her offer. Let me know what dates work for anyone interested. Most weekends I am free and could drive out for the day.

Katie, I'm open for just about any day that the weather will co-operate. I don't need much more than a week or two notice.

I know we have some Floridians on DPC so lets keep this thread going for a while to see if we can get anyone else interested. Would love to meet up with bacchus (Jansen Jones) too. Might just have to send him a PM to check out this thread. If no one else is interested...then I guess I will just trek out myself and meet up with you Roxanne.

I'm down here in Miami and would like to meet with fellow DPC'ers, but I start an 8 week Photoshop class this saturday. Maybe I could work around it somehow (or later).

Daytona is just a quick drive from Orlando. Count me in.

Janson Jones reporting for duty!

I live in Deland, just a couple of skips away from Daytona. A dozen miles, or so. It would be great to meet you all ~ and workshop some techniques. And, of course, have some fun!

Perhaps do something other than get bit by snakes? :')

And Katie: Thanks for the head's up! I've been loaded with classes this week. Glad you flagged me over to this thread ~ my thanks to ya!

That may be a bad week for me, but I may be up for it.

Daytona around Spring break - not the best time for avoiding crowds....

Sorry for the delay, I was off-line for a bit.

I'm taking Photoshop I and Photoshop II back-to-back at Miami-Dade College. The courses are about 15 hours each and the first one starts this saturday.

I live in St. Lucie County, and am a volunteer at a great little preserve in Indian River County. I could guide ya'll on a nature walk, or may even arrange for an expert to give us some time.

Here's the Link We have a nice observation tower with great bird viewing of egrets, other long-legged waders and other water fowl, as well as ospreys and occasional eagles. Of course the chances are good for seeing 'gators.

There are lots of wonderful nature places to explore around the Treasure Coast. Also nearby is Oceanographic Institute, Manatee Observation, bird rookeries, and more.

Manic and I will have a lot of down time after April 2nd and before April 27th.....and we'll be living with my parents so we'd be more than happy to get out of the house and do something. We'll be staying in Port ST Lucie.

Oslo Riverfront Conservation Area

This sounds great to me. And if anyone wants to stick around for an extra day, I'll arrange a kayak tour down my little river or a boat ride on the lagoon.

It is only Jan. but it seems like the best time for people responding to this thread is mid-April...does that sound about right? That is quite a ways out, but would give plenty of time to make plans. Also sounds like we are aiming for the east coast around Indian River, Daytona Beach etc...

I have been out that way a few times but am really only familiar with the bigger "tourist" areas. Daytona Beach itself, Ponce Inlet (once), St. Augustine....so it might be easier for those on the east coast to put together a game plan. If there is anything I can help with just let me know. You can also email me at KSierra78@yahoo.com.

Personally, I am flexible for just about any weekend and any place. I may follow Roxanne's suggestion and make a weekend out of it instead of just one day. My roommate is an avid amatuer photog as well (keep trying to convince him to sign up for this site - right now he is on DeviantArt) so I am sure he would be game to come out with me.

My calendar is wide open, so I'll let those with more restricted schedules set it up. Just keep me posted.

It's always good to start planning early, as it always takes forever for people to agree a date and place and itinerary... at least, that's been my impression of all the GTGs I've been to/organised ;o) We just need to keep bumping this thread every so often, more so closer to the dates in question.

I am in Florida on business and work (away from Denver). I am in Port St. Lucie (great golf resort PGA Village) and splitting that time with Sarasota. Keep me updated everyone. Interesting that there are other Port St. Lucie/St. Lucie county DPC'ers, even if only visiting.

Very cool! I used to live down in Miami, you taking them at Dade-South or one of the other campuses?

I took my PS courses online, it was great though, because we still had the interaction that was needed. And our teacher lived (still does actually) over on Marco Island! Small world.

Good luck with your courses, I know once I took mine that I actually found myself liking PS! ;)

Hello All,

I live in Lake Mary - Just north of Orlando. Daytona is less than an hour away for me. I would be very interested in a GTG. My schedule is pretty flexible so anytime would work for me.
