Know any good books for a newbie to Excel? Actually, I have the basics down, but I just got a new position that will require me to know Excel better. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Congrats on the new position! Sorry I can't offer you any advice on "books"...but, as a person who likes to learn from books, I have to recommend any one-day short *hands-on* course at a computer training center. It's just faster and more interactive--and often comes with training book, program examples and bibliography. Send me a PM if you'd like an example of courses I've taken...and I think I can find some nice online resources for you, too.

I am a self taught geek :) I would highly recommend simply building yourself a spreadsheet ( perhaps for your dpc scores??!) and just click on everything! Make it simple to start with your formulas, do a pie chart , you get the idea.
Practise is how I have learned most excel stuff...Help files and practise.
Good Luck!

Everything from arranging rows and columns and to HLOOKUP to VLOOKUP and Pivot tables to chart making can only be learned well if you practice. I had to learn it that way. So I suggest roll up your sleeves and get your hands dirty. The help tool of Excel is amazing when it comes to finding solutions.

There are plenty of online tools too. you just gotta google them
