This is just a few of the images for my up coming book “TERRE HAUTE HEROES” that I hope to complete by the end of September 2006 and have on the shelf by November 2006. I would be interested in any comments you have. This has been an ongoing project for most of 2005. The cooperation I have received from the Police and Fire departments has been overwhelming. From riding with Fire department to riding with the Police, being able to get to know both the Fire-fighters and the Police officers and seeing what they do on a daily bases, has helped me to understand just what it is to be a “HERO”.

They look great. I hope you get your book together! Best of luck with it as it's a terrific idea.

That's a very cool project there Wild Bill! I'd love to hear the story on how it got started. You approached them, they approached you, etc...

How does it work putting out a book? Did you have to get model releases from everybody in the images? Does a percentage of the book sales go to the Police/Fire Dept's? Is it charity work?

I know that's a lot of questions, but I am curious. Obviously, if it's too personal to answer I understand completely.

Some very nice work there. Congrats!

First I approached them, and the idea was warmly received.

Model releases are not needed as long you shoot in the public domain that is out side and on city streets etc. If I shoot on privet property or shoot a minor I need consent.

Some of the profits will go to the Police and Fire Museum.

Thanks for sharing that! Sounds like an interesting story and project. I didn't realize that model releases worked that way (regarding public domain, city streets, etc...). I thought if it was less than a certain number of people, regardless of location, you had to have releases to sell the image.

So if I wanted to sell this image as a print I could? It was taken in Fredericksburg, VA on a city street during a civil war reenactment.

If it is part of an entertainment venue with paid admission maybe not, in a park you pay to get in no, other wise I would see no reason you could not sell it.

Nope - It was free and open to the public. Thanks for the feedback and good luck getting your project wrapped up.
