I'm in the final stages of creating a new portfolio site, and wanted to ask for any comments.

The 'refer-a-friend' and 'subscribe to updates' links do not work at this time.

I've tried to keep the images big in dimensions, but below 150kb each - sorry to all dial-up users.

Any feedback is welcome. Thanks!

Very nice. Its well organized but runs a bit slow on my DSL connection. Even with the advance arrow. Looks great though, worth the wait.

Very nice site, and wonderful photography.

I'm at work though, and it still chunked out a little in the galleries, but not too bad, I imaginge that it's more a function of the Java loading through the browser, and the PC viewing the slidshow. It's possible anyways.

After visiting your site,
1. Your entrance title (I mean your name) graphics a bit small. And your e-mail graphics doesn't have a link, that would be handy.
2. After entrance we see a half empty page, I would recommend start with a full page, for example first page of your portfolio. Maybe your animation or something doesn't work with my Zonealarm firewall. But you may know that most users are now travelling in the net with their firewalls. (It didn't work again after shutting off my firewall)
3. Some links don't work in my IE6 and Opera 8,51. Maybe you will fill that links afterwards. I think a half completed site makes users upset and they will not come back.
4. You must design a website that visitors must think "I had better bookmark this site, I may come back again"

You have some great photographs on there. I would have picked out something with a litte more pop than a chain link fence for the home page, just my 2 cents.

Excellent layout. Very stilized and effective. My congratulations.

I wish I had the knowledge to do a site like yours.

I just looked and you have some great photos there. The overall layout is nice and it ran great on my cable hookup.

Good work.

The biggest problem I had was when I went to your gallery and the slideshow started, the photos moved on to the next too quickly. I looked at each one and then when the caption dropped down I could only get through about half the caption before it jumped to the next.

I always found a good rule is that the text should be up long enough for you to read it twice at a normal pace. This way if something is mentioned in the caption or brought out for the reader to see they can still catch it without having to stop the show or cycle through again.

Just my 2 cents

Great. Thank you.

Baron152 - I shall slow down the slideshow. It's currently at 2 seconds. It's funny, when you've seen all the captions before, you can read them really quickly. Thank you.

mandyturner - do you have any examples of websites where the first splash page has a more 'pop' image to see what you mean?

I agree. Since your in NYC....how about a Manhattan skyline (just an idea).
E-mail link isn't working on the main page.
Contrary to Baron, the photos didn't change to quickly for me. But, the caption only drops when you put your cursor over the picture.
On the New York Photo Courses page........under 'cost', it says to submit the form below. I don't see the form.

Other than those minor and easily (I imagine) fixable things. I love it.

Mandy, I've changed the welcome image. What do you think? Is that better?

There are some amazing shots in your collection. I love the mohawk skater and the tree amidst all the water. Great captures and good luck with your work. :)

Love your work. I am thinking seriously about taking your New York Photo Course. I have to check my calendar and see if I can do something in the spring.

really cool site

Correct me if I'm wrong. But, that photo on the main page was taken from the NJ side? Don't see many of those. Everyone usually wants to get a bridge in there somewhere.

That's right. I took it from the top of the hill by Port Imperial roughly in line with 42nd to 46th streets.
Inspired by a photo by pawdrix.

Changed the speed to slow down slideshow further.
Is that better?

Very nice photos! A lot of your photos use centered compositions which I normally don't like but they work well in your portfolio.
What I don't like about your flash portfolio is that new photos aren't loaded once the present photo has loaded. There are many other flash galleries that background load the rest of the photos.

awesome site, great photos.

something to be proud of.

Thanks for the comment Bob.
I hadn't noticed they were mostly centered compositions. Funny how some things you don't see until other people point them out.
I know what you mean about the pictures loading in the background....
