... with my camera, of course. Walking a trail. Came around a corner & was face to face with this guy. Maybe 25 feet away. We had a staredown for about 20 seconds. Until he bolted, he never flinched.

Just felt the need to share. Hope you like.

couple of months ago, we were at Cades Cove in Eastern Tn and one came sniffing around our van. I didn't think he was paying any attention to us until I processed the pictures. In every one of them, he had his eyes on us. eerie.

I like how his texture and that of the rock are similar, and his face is clored like hte rock.

What would you have done if he bolted in your direction? Great pictures by the way!

Nice shots! Looks like a pretty big one. These guys come around in my front yard all the time, but are usually gone by the time I get my camera out there. We keep our cat indoors because of them.

Which lens did you happen to have on the camera? Kit lens?

Incredible coyote captures! We have them around, but I've only actually seen one slinking along. They carry off some of our barn kittens, I suspect.

It's weird...coyotes aren't that scary but man, those eyes would make me shiver!!

It does kinda make the hair on the back of your neck stand up.

conglett: Had the Nikor 70-300 lens on the camera.

That is a stunning photo of a very healthy looking specimen. The eyes most certainly are captivating, and give a clear indication of just how alert the animal was.

We also have coyotes where I live and one can hear them howling in the night, which is something rather eerie to listen to when walking one's dog late at night.

Beautiful capture, and thank you ever so much for sharing.

The only wild animal I've ever stared down was a deer. A doe, to be specific. She then turned and strutted back down the sidewalk into the trees. Ah, suburbia.

Nice shots, you're lucky to be able to see such an intense animal like that.
