I got this comment during the "speed" challenge. Is this extremely rude or am I overreacting? Somebody just seems a little too bitter to be objective.

Given that I personally think your image is much stronger, I suspect it's sour grapes.

Then again maybe it's just a joke.

i just sense that he's relatively new to internet sarcasm. Think nothing of it! :)

Judging from the rest of his comments, I doubt it's a joke.

I was trying to give benefit of the doubt.

:(

Inna I truly wouldn't waste much emotion over it... some comments and some commenters aren't worth it.

Don't worry Inna, I personally think yours is the better picture and, apparently, so did the voters. Who knows, he may have been having a bad day or something. I agree with you that the comment was uncalled for though.

Thanks guys! Just wanted to share... and give an example of what NOT to do :)

wow! looked at your photo's, you can really laugh that one off, you have a talent, but there is always someone lurking to put you down, if that was their intent, no need to worry.

HAHAHA,LOL,LOL,LOL !!!
That is so funny!,
I love the comment,it is just a joke,not offensive!

Weird response really. I wouldn't quite know how to take it myself, but it's probably humour [just saw above] - but then again, maybe not.

Ask him!...

I think his piano was one of his weaker shots actually - yours had more atmosphere and involvement with the subject.

Here is another cute comment from same person:
"I see spot cream, hair gel, shampoo and conditioner there. This photo says more about you than you think it does. Unless you meant to indicate your teenage obsessions."

another one:"Ha, First I thought, 'Bah, dumb yank, thats not London!', Then I realised 'Oh yeah, dumb yank!'. The white sky has been a real problem this week."

i agree that those comments are very rude especially as his photos are nothing to go by. i come here for the serious comments of the good photographers i dont want my pictures knocked off such idiots

this is indeed extremely rude and you are not overreacting... i gave your "Allegro" an 8, and his "Adagio" a 2... but it's besides the point... i received a few rude comments myself and they really "don't make my day"... it's easy to say, "ignore them", but they they could really be hurtful... i do make a point not to reply to them, or mark them as useful, but that's about it...

Ahh but this ones even better.

Other persons comment---
"Lose the bush, level the horizon, raise the brats chin, submit this to a more relevant challenge subject."

Nothing like constructive criticism. All I do is consider the source by clicking their ID.

I wouldn't mind getting this comment, because it is actually helpful in a way. Better than "nice shot" anyway.

Raise the brats chin is not my idea of constructive.
07/09/2003 05:09:58 PM · #19
I just saw that comment(the brat one) too and was about to point out how rude that one is. Everyone is entitled to their opinion but that one is a little over the top.

I agree it could have been worded better, but if you actually bother to get under the rudeness of it, you will find it has helpful advice as to how to make the photo better.

Your right there is some good advice in there but I would personly be put of by the comment to even bother seeing the good in it.

You have a point, BUT all of our comments are merely personal opinions on how to make the photo better, they are not laws... Therefore, the manner in which they are presented should reflect that!

I think it is hilarious that in one thread people are asking for honest comments - even if they are not so nice, and here is a person leaving very honest comments getting blasted.
