Nikon AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor 18-70mm f/3.5-4.5G IF-ED

my family got this for x-mas and we don't know what it means.. can anybody translate for me? I tried an online translator, but it didn't work.

The letters are delta, epsilon, omicron, tau, rho, omicron, pi, omicron, sigma...so roughly deotropos or maybe deo tropos (not sure if that's a space before the tau), but I only know the greek alphabet, not vocabulary. Did you enter it in the translater using greek characters or corresponding latin ones?

those letters translate in Altavista to Awe Way sounds weirds but i'm sure someone can help :)
is there a sorority or fraternity that is Delta Epsilon Omicron?

I am just totally guessing here, but I think it says "The purple cow flies at midnight" - I could be wrong - I was once before.

well, I have some limited background in ancient greek..very little in modern. But, I can tell you the "tropos" translates to way or manner. I am unsure as to the translation of the word's prefix, "deo". The accent would fall on the first "o" in deo. Sorry I could not be more help

My Classics major girlfriend says that 'tropos' means 'turn, direction, course, way.' 'Deo' is latin (Greek is 'theo') for God; maybe D E O is in fact a sorority.

I think people are on to something when they think this is latin written in greek. Deo is "God". Tropos has meaning in Catholocism, but I'll be darned if I exactly understood the Googling I did.

A hypothesis? I saw that tropos is sometimes incorrectly felt to mean "image". Could this mean "Image of God"?

deo is "fear, awe", tropos is "manner or turning of mind" according to Thayers Greek English Lexicon of the New Testament (might not be the meaning for this)
