I got two presents: Ansel Adams' Autobiography, and a carton of various exotic hot sauces from the Caribbean. Plus Ken's Ginsu Kmives of course; more on those later. And a very nice card from Brent Ward, a limited edition of the B/W version of his Maroon Bells.

well this christmas I got some kind of coocking aparatus.. havn't figured it out yet, and a pair of cifflings with a thermometer, and a sweater, that's it.. the price of having kids.. they get all the prezzies..

but I gave my self a present, the 24-70 L f2.8, 100mm macro f2.8 and the MR14-EX ringlite flash.

and I gave myself a 5 day trip to London and Paris to try my new lenses :)

I was very generous this christmas, I gave my mother a 29" flatscreen TV, my sister got to go with me on my trip, all expences paid, and my brother got some clothes, and my kids got a lot of prezzies :)

so this has been a very nice christmas.. and the food was great :)

My old cell phone croke last week, so it's a good thing too.

I might try and enter a few challenges with the beast here and see how I do...

You all got some cool stuff. I did well also with the a gift certificate from B&H (choices, choices!), a new razor and the big daddy gift that I had a hand in (hey, I'm Santa!) - a new Dell laptop which arrives Tuesday.

The Photoshop WOW Book, supposedly good for people who already know the basics, and a sling-style camera bag, comfort of a backpack + easy access of a shoulder bag.

(and earrings, watch, cookbook, perfume, new shoes...)

Merry Christmas everyone! :-)

Santa was very nice to me this year... he even started early.

Two months ago, I received the 'big' items.

A new Losmandy G-11 mount with Gemini Goto system
A new Orion 80ED Apochromatic Refractor w/case
2 Panoptic lenses and 1 Nagler
1 Nagler Click-Zoom lens
3 Pelican cases to carry the new mount and old scope in (8" Meade SCT)

Then to my surprise and delight I also received 2 gold bracelets and a pair of diamond cut gold hoop earrings.

I LOVE Santa! :-)

Only stuff I got for christmas this year was stuff I bought for myself.

Of course, I went all out:

Sony PSP, 3 games, and a 512mb memory stick PRO Duo.

hells ya.

Fortunately, I was able to help Santa bring most of the things for which my children wished...which left exactly $0.87 to spend on myself. Seeing the joy on their little faces this morning was worth every penny. One of these days, I'll not get to experience that anymore and then I might buy myself a thing or two.

Oh how true! Enjoy it now cause it goes by fast. And you will get to those days when you can treat yourself Laurie. It will be well deserved after the "joy" of raising the kids. LOL.

Merry Christmas.

I echo your feelings here. I spent the whole month of December, looking forward to seeing my daughter's face on Christmas morning when she opened her presents. All the waiting was worth it. Her face was a picture. That means more to me than getting any physical present myself.

From hubby of 18+ years:

*A new Chanel perfume, Mademoiselle (I had a magazine sample page magnetized to the fridge for about a month, hint hint)
*Some interesting vintage costume jewelry
*A 32" Sony plasma tv (got it about a month ago to replace the hulking 47" Hitache rear-projection model that I got for a birthday a few years back---fit in my old apartment but not the current space)
*A goofy vintage trophy thingee of a guy that says "I Wuv You"--you know the ones
*A magic scarf that he picked out with the help of one of my teenaged daughters

From my son:
A silver toe ring (I do wear them)

From my eldest daughter:
A Jim Carroll CD (we had it on vinyl but one day we were listening to it during a yard sale and it actually melted in the sun while it was spinning!)

From my youngest daughter:
A lovely clay jar that she didn't make but she glazed in a Greek style with a representation of the Medusa (she's been helping a potter glaze pieces for a Christmas sale and was allowed to glaze a few for herself to give as gifts)

Even though are kids are all teenagers (the eldest turned 18 this past October) we still lavish most of the gifts on them. I don't know how it will work once they are all on their own. I can't imagine a time when I don't spoil them at Christmas. It is about the only time they really get spoiled. Even birthday's don't compare (accept for my son who was born Dec 9 and doesn't always get quite as much at Christmas--partly because he is a boy---pretty happy with the one big present and a few cool little things)

Oh yeah, and my crappy score for Shallow DOF went up by about 10 points...still crappy at 3.9327 and still only 3 comments but I may yet avoid getting the brown for this one.

Got an Ipod nano for my daughter and had to put all the music on it for her. Now I'm suffering from gadget envy. It makes my year-old mp3 player look positively antediluvian.
