I put this in General Discussion, because it's not about photography. It is about art - art in the form of music! My friend's band "made it". They are now signed by Virgin and performing on David Letterman tonight. They are called "We Are Scientists". I am so proud of them! This is very exciting! They are alterna-rock with a poppy edge. They have melody, good musical riffs, they fit right in with Nada Surf, Weezer, Toad the Wet Sprocket, Green Day, and other alterna-rock bands.

I hope some of you can catch their performance tonight and check out //www.wearescientists.com.

Here are my photos of them live in LA: //www.mirdonamy.com/searchview.php?searchterms=scientists

They need to redo their website...very barbie/pink/feminine looking for a rock band.

I like all the other bands you mentioned - I'm off to set Tivo now!

fantastic; I've been in an indie rock band for years. As a night job. Long live original music, instead of shitty cover bands! Good luck to the scientists, or "Break-a leg" is in order, I guess.

I am very happy for them! I told my husband to set the DVR since I am not home yet. I don't think I'll forget though. This is too big of a deal!

blindjustice, I'd love to hear your music! Send me a link!

A1275, Let me know what you think! I really hope they are not toned down too much. They are amazing live and usually a bit more 'alternative' than 'pop' when playing live. Since it's on TV though, who knows!

Alienyst, they really like the pink and cat thing they've got going. It's just silly and it's totally them. If you ever meet them, you'll know why it works. No, they are not gay. :)

alfresco, woohoo indeed!! :) Yay!!!!

Kool. I'll be watching for them. Dave has a knack (or his producers do) for showcasing some great up and coming talent. Thanks for posting.

Well...I don't usually watch TV and the last time I saw Letterman was when Stern was on and before that years. But I am up that time of night so I will tune the TV to the appropriate station and listen for it. Aren't musical guests usually up last on that show?

I am not sure when the musical guests come on the show. I watch the Simpsons at 11:30pm, then head to bed. So, it's been ages since I've seen any form of "late show". I do like Letterman though; although, Conan is my favorite!

I'll be watching tonight though! I am so excited to see them on Letterman. I know they are just going to get soooo big. Already, WAS is "Harry Potter" (D. Radcliffe's) favorite band!

Good Stuff!!
The drummer really kicks ass, and its a very full sound for a 3 person group..
Tell the lead singer to cut his bangs though!! (kidding)

Wow, must be hard to follow Jim Carrey...
Nice Job-- Enjoyed

Glad you liked it Buzzrock! Keith's trademark is his hair, he won't be cutting it anytime soon. :)

Their drummer, Michael, is amazing! I am always impressed watching him!

I was very happy with their performance. I wish it were louder and more energetic, but it's public television; so, they had to keep it smooth and simple. They are very in tune with one another and they always impress me! Keep an eye out for a live show in your town. They tour everywhere! They are worth seeing live :)

Forgot about this thread...I actually turned on the TV last night. It took me like 15 minutes to find the remote for it, but got to Letterman just in time. Not bad. As stated earlier, for a 3 piece they have a very full sound.

They are sooooo much better when not on live TV. Haha. They were okay last night, enjoyable. They were far from their best. I could tell that Keith seemed a bit nervous at first, but started to relax around the time of his guitar semi-solo. I think he spotted someone over to his right that made him feel more relaxed. His smile changed.

Anyhow, I am glad you got to watch it. Look out for them playing live by you. They are amazing in person!!!

Well when I said 15 minutes to find the remote I was being kind to myself. I remembered about midnight to watch. I rarely watch TV and honestly had no idea where the remote was. I found the remote and got the TV on during the commercial just before they went on. It was at the bottom of a basket of dog toys. Luckily it still worked, tooth marks and all.
