I want to get a good, weatherproof (maybe even waterproof) backpack for my camera gear. I have a Canon 20D, 70-200 2.8L lens, 50mm 1.8 lens, a Sigma 24-70, and I plan on collecting one or two more lenses in the next couple of months (medium telephoto), and a 580ex flash. I want to get a good quality backpack. Something to hold what I've got with some extra room as well. Any recommendations?

I have been scratching my head about this also but don't like the normal options people mention. The closest I see so far is the Burton Zoompack (good luck finding it in stock and forget about any detailed pictures).

The best of the photo backpacks I have seen is the Kata 102/103 (larger also has room for a laptop).

Go to www.dogfunk.com and look under camera bags. It says it has 4 burton zoom paks in stock.

Should you decide to get a notable makers camera bag (backpack) you might consider removing any labels that would identify it as relating to camera gear. Thieves are likely to be familiar with camera bag manufacturers and thus more inclined to believe a "valued" item resides within. I intentionally try to have my camera bags look as non-descript as possible (when traveling) to avoid any added targeting.

I love my Microtrekker 200. I carry a D70 and two lenses at the moment, and there's room for lots more. While on vacation we had the D70 and my boyfrieds N80 in there with all 4 lenses, no problem. It's really comfortable and well constructed. I would recommend any Lowepro bag (i.e. the Dryzone if you want waterproof). This is my second and I've been very impressed with both.

I have the LowePro DryZone and I had the same gear in it, and it had room for at least 2 more lenses, but nothing bigger than the 70-200 IS.

expensive bag, but really worth it, if you go out on rainy days or go river rafting with your gear :)
