I can almost guarantee the oversharpening halos in the sunset one really hurt that image's score.. unfortunate, as it *is* a lovely photo

Gave it an 8.

And of course mine...LOL

I was really unhappy with some comments until graphicfunk made my day.

Was it that 'lame'?
Anyways this is DPC.
And my pic scored 5.569 was placed 69, got 69 fives on my 69th challenge.
Did I say I was born in '69?

Was my only 9 that did not finish in the top 30 or so. Talking to another member via pm's, found out some thought that this is NOT camouflage, and that I think is too bad, because it truly is. Here is a quote from a nature site, can find lots more if you still need convincing!!

"Mimicry is a different type of camouflage. Animals do not try to blend in with their surroundings, but instead mimic a different type of animal. A number of harmless snakes have evolved very similar coloration to highly poisonous snakes. Many types of harmless, stingless flies have evolved a very similar appearance to bees and wasps"

Waited til after the challenge to post this, was going to post in the other thread but decided it was too close to begging for votes, though this is NOT my shot - I had the lone grasshopper, at least I do not remember any others. LOL

I gave it a 6 because to me it is not so much a camouflage as it is someone hiding.

I did not vote on your photo Giorgio - and a few others like it - mainly because I agree with chaimelle, that it is not camouflage, but something (in this case a person) hiding behind something, not blending in, or misrepresenting themselves, just hiding. So, rather than rate a fairly good photo low, I just did not vote. Probably others felt the same way about it and did vote, but if you look at all the photos in the challenges here, they ALL seem to get 1's 2's and 3's, which I have never understood.

Tiberius,
I read the "lame" comment and I couldn't believe it. That's 'constructive' critisism if I've ever heard it (please note sarcastic tone in my voice). I really liked the picture. I think everyone has felt like this picture. It sure conveyed an emotion to me, with or without the title.

Agreed. That 'lame' comment was out of order.

This is also one that I thought would've done a lot better.

For the record, I liked it too.
As for the "lame" statement, that person speaks of originality - all you have to do is look at his photos to laugh at the irony of that statement.

Thanks Doc, I too thought the toy dog was underrated :)

Seriously though...I gave this a 10. Liked the tight cropping, met challenge, and had a dynamic component to it as well.

Here is my underated pic of the challenge.

I personally think this one was underrated. It isn't the best picture, but it sure is funny. Cracked me up.

Unbelievably underrated. Beautiful lighting, beautiful composition, lovely rendering of tonalities.

Wow what a pleasent surprise. I was kind of down and out because I didn't have an entry for this weeks challenges. But seeing that some of you thought my "On Assignment" image (The Photographer in blue) was underrated made my day. Thank you very much. I usually don't even check my ranking any more but is is nice to be appriacated. Thanks again.

Kevin
