curious if any one has tried this, and what purpose it serves over the pre-existing camera color profiles raw shooter premium has built in.

I downloaded it ... can't think of why I'd use it thought. It baffles me that they want so much money for it, relative to the price of RSP itself.

There has been a lot of discussion recently on the vendors site pixmantec.com, fredmiranda.com and dpreview.com.

The CE kinda gives an alternative interpretation of the colour conversion of the RAW file. There are a number of alternatives that seem to have started coming out of the woodwork also.

The ETC profiles have been around a long while, free for a time (in the early days), then available at a cost as they were improved. Camera profile creation is a time consuming process and arguably error prone anyway. Depending on how much you think your camera is changing over time or how different it is from the device used to take measurements for the profile, the ETC profiles (in CE) may not have great value.

You can get a rough idea about their workings by selecting images and switching between the ETC profile and the internal one in the Batch tab. If you get that "wow, those greens are smack on now", then it might be worth a penny or two per image.

yeah that's kind of what i was thinking, and they aren't really giving it away.

maybe i'll try the demo, but according to the thread i posted it seems to pretty bug prone.

raw shooter premium was well worth the discount price however, IMO.
