Now that I have been here a year I want to introduce myself. My name is Lexa Rowland [also known as A Varya] and I am a 9 year old fourth grader, living in Mechanicsville, Virginia. I love to take pictures! I think there are a lot of great photograghers on DPC, and I want to be just like them.

Thanks a lot to the owners for letting me join. I’ve learned so much! Also, thanks to everyone who has ever commented on me. All of the comments have been very helpful. And a special thanks to my father Skiprow, the person who taught me how to take pictures and gave me my first camera.

Take loads of pictures!

You're one talented 9 year old.

I think we just met Joey's future replacement.

Keep up the great work Lexa, makes me think again about giving my 6 year old our old Canon a70 :o)

Something tells me you have a great teacher at your disposal...or maybe it's just coincidence that another Rowland from Virginia is amongst us. ;)

Wonderful shots!

Hi Lexa, very nice to meet you!

It's an awesome community here at dpc isn't it. I especially love the opportunity to meet up with wonderful talent, such as yours. I'm on the other side of the world (New Zealand)....where else but a place like dpc could that happen!

Have fun with your camera, and the challenges. It's going to be really interesting watching your portfolio grow, can't wait!!

WOW Lexa, it is nice to see your work on here! You have done an awesome job on your challenges. My 9 yr old Allie takes pictures too, she is getting the Canon A520 for Christmas and she is very excited. (graduating from a HP 3 mp camera that doesn't do much) I think I will sign her up and you two can compare shots and tips! :)

Thank you all for your nice replies and great comments! I really love it here--it's like having digital friends. :)

I am working on two projects right now. I am doing a Virginia Studies scrapbook and I'm taking all of my own pictures for it. That is why there are all the pictures from around Virginia in my portfolio. There will be a lot more! I am also doing the activities in the book "Take a Look Around". It is about photography for kids. That is where I got the idea for the Flying Shadow.

Thanks again for being so nice to me.

P.S. just in case you're wondering, I'm not allowed to go on the internet by myself!!

Skip, she is so adorable, you should be proud. I really enjoyed spending a day with you and the kids. I wish you all the best of luck, though it doesn't seem you need it.

Best Wishes

Welcome Lexa! You're in good company! ...Well usually.

People say bad stuff about me but don't believe it. I got you this cute purple dinosaur to show that I can be nice...

Have fun here! Looking forward to seeing many of your photos.

Wow, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree here! Very nice work Lexa, keep it up! Skip, I'd watch out if I were you... The next time your phone rings when the President comes into town, they might be calling for her, not you! :-)

Lexa, you have a super way with a camera.
Keep those great pictures coming.
(But watch out for Uncle Slippy. He might put film in your
cartridge case)
