Has anybody else noticed a SERIOUS decline in the amount of comments recieved? My score is currently hanging around 6, with 115 votes and only 2 comments. I have seen this before with decidedly average shots which I submitted, but never with one scoring above 5,8.

Thanks to ChrisW123 and La-Luna, who took the time to leave comments.

My guess is for a lot of people (like me) it has to do with having three challenges to get through.

I'm currently scoring (for a challenge I had no time to participate on), and I must say that my own comment rate has plummeted. I'm finding vast swads of similarly done shots, and, so far, very, very little actual interesting photographs.

It's difficult to comment when everything is so samey.

I have quite a few comments on my country challenge entry. 11 at the moment which is more than I have had in previous weeks. I guess it is a case of does the photo move people or not if it does you get lots of comments.

Martus, you're welcome! I enjoy leaving comments although this challenge has a LOT of entries so it's tough to get through all of them. I haven't even finished voting yet because there are so many, and I have much less time these days.

What's interesting is... you said yours is near 6 with 2 comments, but mine is currently well below 6 (5.4 I think) but have 7 comments. Strange. I wonder why there's that much of a diff. My comments aren't negative either so who knows! Good luck!

I tend to see the comments from those with cameras in a different light from those from without. Both are equally valid, I feel. Trying to please both groups simultaneously is murder, though. (I will admit to feeling good when photographers give me higher scores ; ))

I am running at just above 5 with 6 comments. My picture is very different from most others in the challenge, but that doesn't seem to help with the score :-)

However, I am getting a lot of comments that my picture is "too busy" with "too much in it" when that was precisely the point -- it was set up to look like a painting that one would spend some while studying to see all the details. Oh well, can't please everybody (or anybody sometimes!)

I have received 5 comments on the country challenge so far and all are positive. My entry isn't your stereo typical "country" image that is perpetuated on mainstream TV either. People must be getting the message that country/rural life can have many facets. Nice to see. :)

I'm at 18 comments after 125 votes. my average is over 7 for the time-being, unusually high for me. maybe this time, Martus, your image just isn't doing it for people?

I felt the same way for my BoB submission, which apparently (according to voters) sucked.

Hard to account for taste :)

I had over 100 votes....and absolutely no comments !!! And suddenly, after your message, the votes climbed to 112 with 2 votes, which is still low. But anyway, I'm not so surprised, because my picture is not so good I think, and you can't really comment on it. I think that a challenge with a lot of pictures posted result in less votes per image...

That certainly would explain why I haven't been getting many comments, but I am more than happy with the score. I've just never had such a glaring lack of comments on a (for me) above average shot before. Ah well, maybe it means the technical stuff is OK, but the subject is not appealing enough, I just wish somebody would confirm my suspicion. : )

Hey Pedro,

I was over 7 (just barely) for most of the off-ceter challenge....didn't ribbon....lol I'm sure you'll do better than that :) And you're right about accounting for taste. I never dreamed that the plumb bob would go over so well. I was very pleased.

It's summer where I live. Waay to hot to sit at a computer! Let the temperature some down, maybe the comments will go up.

I live in a rural area where we can't even get high speed phone lines. 56K and meeting 20% votes when there are large numbers of entries, tends to decrease my commentary.

I don't think it's possible to read into why there is or isn't commentary. Comments are great learning and motivating tools, encouraging comments by leaving comments is probably a good way to go.

I have found this challenge most interesting Having grown up way, way out in the country in Tn.USA many many years ago I have found many photo's that I can relate to and a few that don't seem country but realizing we all
Have a different idea about what country is I've made allowances for that. Like the rest hard to comment with so may to vote on.
