i am on a very tight budget which is not ideal when buying digital toys! still i want a tripod and wondered if anyone could steer me in the right direction. not sure to get a big or a little one. i have seen two Hama models - one 16cm tall for £5 and one 165cm tall for £19. these strike me as cheap but are they good value?? any advice welcome... cheers, richard.

The biggest difference I've noticed is the more expensive tripods are much more sturdy. Their legs have a greater diameter and they often weigh more. I've been using a cheap $40 one for a while and just upgraded because that one was so full of sand from the beach...LOL It has worked just fine for me over the past couple years. The thing, however, would tip over if I had the camera flipped to vertical with a heavy lens..LOL

Some tripod is better than no tripod....get what you can afford. I'd go for the 165mm one, you will probably use it much more often.
