I see more and more Dutch people here and with us Dutch centered between Kopenhagen, Berlin, Brussel and London it might be interesting for our neighbours as well: An Amsterdam GTG!

This discussion is meant to discuss the date, ideas and to find out who is interested.

I was thinking late November, mid December or 2nd half of January. On a Saturday, because the city is more alive then on a Sunday.

What to do?
- Get a guide to tour us trough the interesting old parts?
- Visit the nachtwacht at the Rijksmuseum?
- Hang out in a bar in the Jordaan and enjoy a dinner at the Eerste Leliedwarsstraat?
- Walk trough the Vondelpark
- Shoot rich people at the PC Hoofdstraat?
- Throw some dice at Holland Casino (no cameras allowed!)
- Perhaps some of us are interested in visiting the RLD (fun to walk around but don't bring your camera!) or a coffee shop?
- I don't live in Amsterdam anymore. When you have an original idea, post it!

Perhaps a two day stay for some, with a visit to Marken / Volendam / Muiderslot / Zaanse Schans? I'd be happy to give some people a tour of windmills, cheese and Dutch Architecture.

Weather is always crap when you want it to be good. So let's ignore that.

Are you interested, when, what!?

Sounds good Az! Count us in, it is only a 2 hour drive from here. As for the date, I'm open. Mid December of January if okay for us. Time to eat pancakes again :)

Well... I guess if I weren't a poor student and all it'd be fun to make the trip. The midterm timing is sort of off for me as well. Anyways you guys have fun. :)

I need to get out of the house more and Amsterdam fits the bill.

If the airfares aren't insanely high and the GTG falls when I have a break, it's a serious consideration.

Great idea...I'll follow the thread.

Depends on the amount of people showing up and the route to take, but I might join in.
Too bad you (or anybody else) didn't think of this earlier. Last night would've been great for a meeting.

I'm just back from a dinner plus a few museum visits. Great ambiance around the musea. Because I am a 'friend' of the Hermitage we went there first. When I got out the line was 30m long, waiting time between 30 to 60 minutes. :)
After that we went to the Portuguese Synagogue nearby. I didn't expect much but was pleasantly surprised. Music, dancing, a lot of people enjoying and inside singing lit by a thousand candles. I simply got a happy feeling.

Indeed, it would have been a great GTG night.

January 21 (Sat) and/or 22 (Sun), 2006?

December is such a busy month, especially for us Dutch with our Sinterklaasfeest early December, followed by Christmas late December.
January will be busy for me too (8-15 Finland, pick up my new MC etc), but we got to set a day.

Well, I say january, perhaps everyone else favours December 17/18th.

I would love to, but Dec & Jan aren't too good for me. I'm off to New Zealand in Feb & flights there are pretty expensive. I'll stay tuned though.
