Who's worse? LOL!

It'sd not a matter of "better" or "worse", it's just that all 3 entries have nearly the same score, and it's a mediocre one to boot...

Bear, you should be happy...they're all above your average of 5.3315.

My last three challenges have been remarkably consistent too, and yes Deapee, they're all above my average too (thank heavens).

My rut is so deep I can't even get out of it to take a picture.

I'm with you. :(

If the world gives you lemons - make lemonade.

If the rut is deep - take pictures of the fossils on the sides of the rut.

Judging here is pretty harsh Robert. I'm no math expert ( at all ) but isn't an average vote on a scale of 1 to 10 actually a 5.5 and not a 5? Most people give out 5's like they were candy on Haloween, when in fact that is saying the photo is a bit below the 50% mark.

Not that anyone necessarily asked for my opinion... (but as usual I'm offering it anyway!) And Rbt, I know I have no place to offer advice to someone as sage in this realm as you, so you can just skip this post. ;-)

When I feel I'm in a rut I find that perusing other people's portfolios and commenting on a lot of shots helps both my own initiative and end product. I'm not exactly sure why, but it seems to for me.

By the numbers and ONLY by the numbers, it merely seems that you aren't using good judgment in terms of the DPC voting public and haven't been entering what they like or vote on highly. Shooting for the numbers is no great mystery.

...hey, and I thought you'd be the last guy here to place your real value on the voters judgement...let alone the numbers?

Don't be Bearish on The Bear. Snap yourself, out of it.

Oh, hey, my state-of-mind is fine. I didn't mean this to be taken so seriously. I long ago reconciled myself to the choice I have made, which is to shoot for myself and let the votes fall where they may. Which is strictly average-city for most of my work, of course.

So there's nothing to "snap out of", I was just amused to notice the 3 scores were virtually identical at that time. Had I not added the "mediocre" tag line the post would have been just as valid :-) I was just taking a gentle dig at myself.

I'm not depressed, honest!

Robt.

Hmm...mediocre...I was just talking to someone who said they loved my photos and all I could come up with in response was "Thanks. I really appreciate that. But I am mediocre at best and most times not even that."

Wow! You have described me to a tee!

At the point where I am considering selling the Canon gear and going back to building and modding computers.
