(Yeah, I'm referring to 4 and 5 voters)

I'd love to hear some comments on what you didnt like about my entry:

I have 14 comments, all positive, so time to ask for some negatives. Make it direct and honest.

I didn't give you a 4 or a 5, but it's up to them as individuals to give you what they think it deserves and (right or wrong) it's up to them to leave you a comment or not! It's quite possible it just didn't appeal to them!

EDIT: And ending up 55 out of 257 is nothing to be sneezed at!

Okay, I am one of those, found the colors garrish, and it looked to me as if you took a photo of shelves of shoes - at a bad angle - and played with them until you got those effects. Did not like it much at all, but figured it was not terrible, hence the score.

Of course! I'm not whining about my score. People dont like to leave negative feedback these days, but do give it when asked for - so that's why I'm asking.

That's cool! Sorry! I thought it wasn't a bad shot!

Didn't vote 4 or 5, and thought it was a great shot... can't offer any CC for you :)

I didn't vote in that challenge, but I'd be happy to give what little feedback I can offer:

Initially, my eyes are attracted to the shot because of the vivid colors; then I see the repetitive lines and angles, and the repetitive uneven edges of the strips of color, which make a decent composition, for me, and a fairly eye-pleasing abstract. Past that, the focus seems soft to me, and there is nothing that really stands out as a main subject, nothing to draw my eyes back to the shot and really hold my interest. I would have given you a 6.

Didn't vote on this either.

If this had been entered in reflections (it could very well have been), I personally would have liked to be able to make out the reflection at least and possibly the object causing the reflection. In your picture I wouldn't have been able to work out either! Very abstract - not my cup of tea!

BUT...

It was entered in the What? challenge. To me this fits the bill OK, the fact that it is abstract in these circumstances works very well and I would have scored it higher... But not much higher...
There are better photos that fit the bill where the subject is recognizeable. I guess I'm just not a fan of abstract!

Using my voting method:
I gave it a five-because for me it fit the challenge.
The photo didn't appeal to me in anyway and I couldn't make out any great techniques or anything in the picture that "wowed" me-therefore I didn't bump it up any higher.
But I also didn't find any faults in the picture (oof, bad compostition etc)-therefore I didn't take any marks off.
So it stayed at five.

And funnily enough I thought that it looked like a cd!!!!

OK, I didn't vote in the challenge, but since you asked for comments, here it goes. This is a very nice image. Certainly fits the challenge in that it makes you ask "WHAT?" However, when compared with the majority of the shots that scored better, it just doesn't have the same pull that they do. For instance, first place just makes you smile. Second is the perfect representation of the "Huh" expression. Third makes you wonder how the leaves got there in the first place. To me, while your photo makes me ask "what the heck is that" it just doesn't have the same appeal. It is just a very nice abstract. Considering how conservatively a lot of people vote here, a 5.6 is a good score. Lastly, from a very picky technical aspect, if you had pulled out just a little to get all three jagged edges in perfect focus like the middle one, that may have helped a little... but only for those who really studied your photo. Personally, I would have given you a 6... maybe 7.

I voted it a 6. It met the challenge, and had good colors. But it didn't draw me in enough to rate it higher. Its a good photo never-the-less, but some of the other photos just had more What? factor.
