A very happy holiday to one and all. If you don't celebrate Thanksgiving, then 'cheers' all the same. Blessings on you and yours.

Would also like to wish everybody a happy Thanksgiving. There was a time this holiday didn't mean all that much to me, just another American holiday and an occasion to stuff oneself. I've now come to see it really as an occasion to reflect upon all the things in life that are reason to be grateful for and give thanks to. So, wherever you are on the globe, a Happy Thanksgiving to you! :)

Well wishes to everyone tomorrow. And safe traveling too!! 2 accidents today already just by the closest highway exit to my house. Be safe, and enjoy your day.

This Thanksgiving is bittersweet. This is the first Thanksgiving in 8 years I'll have my (only) daughter, her husband, and our 4 grandkids at our house. I've been praying for this for that long, since they moved to Florida. We finally moved to be near them last year. I feel so very blessed, and am truly thankful. On the other hand, this is the first Thanksgiving since my Mom died in March and as you can imagine, I miss her terribly. Today I came across an audio tape of her giving me good news on my answering machine a long time ago. I couldn't bear to listen.
That reminds me......For those of you who have camcorders, I interviewed my Dad a couple of years before he died. I just asked lots and lots of questions about his childhood, his parents, family traditions, and that sort of thing. It was at a family get together, and I didn't make a big deal out of focusing on him, so as not to make him clam up. His sister, my aunt was there too, and she told me a lot about our ancestors in Italy too.
If you can do the same. It will mean so much to you later. I marvel when I look at the tape.
Sorry to go on so long.
Blessing be multiplied to all of you, wherever you live. Be thankful for each blessing you have. Take time to consider them, however small they may be.

Now would be an appropriate time to say I really am thankful for this site. I'm learning from all of you in one way or another. I am very pleased that it is international. I love the idea of learning from, and getting perspectives from all of you.

Happy Thanksgiving (or, as they referred to it on NPR today, "T-Day")! All of you outside of America should at LEAST have a turkey sandwich or something ;)

What I'm thankful for most this year: a dining room. I'm hosting my first dinner in my remodeled house and have been working like a nutcase to get the dining room finished. The paint just got completed last night, and I assembled the table and chairs (I (heart) IKEA) this evening. Nothing like waiting until the last minute!! LOL!!

I realized last week that I only have 4 plates, so I've been borrowing dishes from friends! Needless to say, I'm also going to be very thankful when Thanksgiving is over. It's been a looong couple of months.

OK, thanks for letting me commiserate. Wish me luck tomorrow!

Now, if I can just get the aluminum foil to stay on the turkey like this, my day will be complete. LOL!

See you all later!

Thanks fr your comments...thi holiday is bittersweet for me too. This is the first Thanksgiving I won't be with Isaac since he was born. However, it does give me a chance to getaway into the mountains and play some music with my old friend Tom. I may be out of touch until next week, but I'll have my camera and laptop...

I'm pretty sure every culture has some version of this holiday (sometime during the year) -- in some ways, for example, I think the month-long celebration of Ramadan is a version of the same ideas and values. Whenever your's is, best wishes and thanks for contributing.
