Just search the web. Attemtion Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (Attention Deficit Syndrome) can be treated. When you are rating photos, try to look past the item(s) that may distract you and SEE what the PHOTOGRAPHER is trying to convey....Not all shots are setup in a studio, with soft box lighting, and world class models.... life happens and frozen moments can be captured only once (distractions and all.....)

Well, I STRONGLY disagree... uhm.... crap, I forgot what I was going to say.

I disagree strongly as well. Photography, like any other creative form - art or design, relies on technique as well as intuition in what is being conveyed. Otherwise, what is the use of having critiq-

Shoot, I lost my train of thought.

Yeah, I have to disagree there, too... I mean, it's one thing to "envision" a photo, it's another thing to carry through with it and execute it properly.

The viewers' job isn't to try to envision what could have been... the viewer is going to simply see what there is.

And here I thought this was gonna be a serious discussion on the treatments available for ADHD/ADD...

ADD/ADHD is a lot like smoking weed and drinking a case of pop. It does other things but I can't remember what that is.

That is precisely why most viewers have no clue what they are looking at..........

I'm not ADHD, I extermely right brained. So, I do look at things differently than left brainers. ADHA are mostly right brainers that have that diagnosis. Just my right brained thoughts.

I read recently that the whole concept of left brain/right brain is flawed, based on the results of a study of brain surgery patients that didn't have any bearing on the general population. The researchers who did the study have even supposedly denounced the popular interpretations as relate to people being left or right brain thinkers. I haven't tried to verify this yet.

Not that this has anything to do with anything, just an interesting bit of info...

Its a dominance thing, yes brain injured folks have been able to move this dominance to the other lobes. Nature/God works in mysterious ways in human functions. But, there is definitly a difference between the way we think, perceive, and learn, as compared to left brainers.

There are hundreds of books and studies, so I would have to read the study. I've read numerous articles, books and papers on the subject. I have at least two kids the are very "right brained" and me too.

Who supported the study? I assume drug companies who want to prescribe more drugs for "ADHA" kids or teachers who can't handle us. ;)

It didn't have anything to do with ADHD, so no drug companies involved. :)

Its not a question of whether there are different modes of thinking, or different people don't think or perceive things in different ways, just that it (supposedly) doesn't have anything to do with the left or right brained dominance. We've just gotten trained to call different types of thinking as "left brained" or "right brained", when that may be totally irrelevant.

And the study refered to was not a new study, but the original study, back in the 70s (I think) that established the whole concept in the first place.

Still... nothing to do with the topic...

Hmmm....Seems we've gotten "off topic" here....... Can anyone say "Distraction"?

ADHD is all about them so yes, if there is a flaw, it is seen. BUT All the picture is seen. If you can truly impress the ADHD person, then you have accomplished what very few photographers have ever done.

BTW, ADHD HERE......My whole house too!

Anyone else here with it?

My hubby and both kids have it (diagnosed and everything). We keep it under control through diet. No drugs.

Very good point.... I feel much better now, thank you....

When you vote on 20% or more photos in a challenge you definitely are using all your ADD/ADHD skills...........how else could anyone really focus on so many and vote on each one fairly?
