I have planned a trip to the Smokies! I will be there March 11th through March 18th. Would some of you like to get together one day during my trip and take some pictures? I think we would have a great time. I will be staying at my Mothers time share in Pigeon Forge, but we could even go to the Indian Reservation, Gatlinburg, hike the mountains, etc. If we go on a weekday, there will be less tourist.

So who wants to go? What day would be good?

Pardon my ignorance, but what state?

I'm sure she means the great state of Tennessee... and here's a link to Cade's Cove.

You got that right! It will be windy in March and cold up in the mountains.

Cades Cove looks good! That would be a great place. I have been to that aquarium and it isn't very easy to photograph the fish. Took me weeks to get these pics of my fish in my tank at home. All I have is a point and shoot.

Hey Mandy,
Where is your timeshare located at? It's weird you bring you bring this because I've been researching the smokies/blue ridge parkway for the last 2 weeks! I see where people can rent cabins (some are even very reasonable!) and such...but there are so many different towns and even states....I'm assuming they're all close to one another but I still haven't got a clear picture in my head yet.

Pigeon Forge, TN is where the timeshare is. I have stayed at many cabins in Gatlinburg, TN (5 miles from Pigeon Forge) and they are wonderful. They always have hot tubs and pool tables!

Oh, so tempting! I was there about 2 years ago. Absolute beauty......I honestly don't think there are many words to describe it. How I long to go back...............

I usually go every two years. It is a great place to visit.

Pigeon Forge/Gatliburg is so nice! I was there about 12 years ago and went to Dollywood, did the indoor skydiving, and bungee jumped at the ski resort in Gatlinburg. Fun place to visit, wish I were closer!

Mandy,

I might be able to make it down for this. I have a wedding to attend in Florida on the 20th, so I might be able to head down a couple days early and catch up with you on the way down!

That would be great! Just PM or email me and we could plan the day of the GTG around your schedule since you are traveling so far.

Hey Everyone.

I live a few miles from Pigeon Forge! That time of year isn't the best for photo taking but I'm game to attend!

That's not too long a drive for me as well, so I'll also consider going. It would be nice to meet up with some more dpc'ers. For me, I would be mostly interested in the scenic areas there and not so much the towns. I'm open for anything though.

I make at least 1 cycle trip out there each year. I know of a good spot where you can take lots of motorcycle pictures. Going in March is bit early for the cycle, but who knows, I may give it a try!! PM me closer to the date (like after the first of the year)

I took this at the aquarium in Gatlinburg with my point and shoot.

Its really not the ideal place to get good pics (reflection from the glass).

Best pics are probably of each other getting tipsy or trying to climb the side of a mountain. LOL

I'm not sure when Spring Break is. Hmmm - I may come and visit too.

Are Texans allowed? LOL

to clarify, this is local to people in South East KY, West TN, and East VA. Oh and NC too duh.
Also the "new road" that links KY to TN is now open and so much better than the old one. It also goes right by my house hahah. I might need a ride if immigration doesn't get it's butt into gear.

Oh yeh, and if you come from down south, dress very warmly. These mountains are chilly in march - snow is more than a possibility.

The best time to go is in the fall, but I can't go now. I am going to Vegas next month. My kids have spring break in March. I have already booked the time share so I am for sure going. They won't be with me on the GTG though. I am going to leave them with thier Daddy! They will drive me nuts! I am looking so forward to this. I hope we get a good crowd. I will have my 20D by then too!! WOOOOHOOOO!

Yea, March isn't the greatest month, but the upside is that you don't have to fight a lot of people (it can be very very crowded during the summer, fall and winter). We were there last Tuesday, and it was crowded. yeesh.

We usually go 5 or 6 times a year (will be there at least once or twice before the gtg), so if you need me to help plan anything, or "scout" anything, let me know, Mandy. 'kay?

Getting closer to March. I would really like to GTG with some folks from DPC. I think it would be alot of fun.
