Anyone here own a Peleng Fisheye?

The price seems right but is it a good lens?

These folks might be good to ask. ;)

It's a good value, however I did not think it was possible to mate it to the D70...

I can't find this damn thing anywhere B&H, J&R, Adorama...Ritz?

Maybe it can't be mounted on a Nikon and that could be a little problem but I read somewhere about the two being matched somewhere.

i think you can only get it on ebay or at kievcamera.com...
it's an imported lens from russia.
i don't know about the quality, but it's good enough for me... it's just a fun lens for me, so i couldn't think of paying for one of the expensive ones.
you can get it with an adapter for the nikon mount, but as to whether or not it will fit on a d70, i heard it depends. usually it works, but for some reason with certain copies (either of the lens or the camera i don't know) the mirror will hit the rear of the lens. that's just what i read when i was looking at the d70 and the peleng a while ago....

I gt mine from kievcamera through ebay. They shipped my lens from their facility in Atlanta. Some sellers on ebay are just middlemen and the lens will ship from Belarus where they are made though the ebay seller might be in the US. In my case, I received mine in just a few days, I have heard of others waiting weeks.

Anyway, it's definitely a fun lens. If you can't get one for the D70, your only other option is the Sigma 8mm fisheye which is quite a bit more expensive.

I did look on e-bay but being in Manhattan things like that might only be a few minutes away (don't throw rocks at me) if you look in the right places.

I don't usually buy online for stuff since B&H is less than an 8 minute walk away (again, don't throw rocks at me) but I'm now realizing how hard these are to find in stores. Sneaky Russian Bastards!!!

Sigma and Nikon are way more expensive, so for a lens used once in a while for kicks I don't need to drop big money if the Peleng is good.

The Peleng is good, but if the D70 mirror hits the rear element, that will not be good.

i looked at the Peleng and the wider Zentar

manual lens / no metering

ended up getting the Nikon 10.5mm -- nice small lens
in the bag most of the time ... (might change if i ever get a 10-20 but ..)

I recently (this morning, in fact)came to the conclusion that a fisheye would be the coolest lens to photograph NYC.

If the Peleng fits...I'm there, otherwise...I don't know

The Nikon's expensive and I wonder if the the Sigma is any good?

I wonder what it would do to this image?

this guy seems to use it on his d70

but this page says that the d70 mirror occassionally catches on it if the lens is set at infinity focus.

but i did read somewhere that the peleng fisheyes sold now come with a better nikon adapter that prevents the mirror from hitting the lens.
