I am looking on the internet for places to buy a Sony DSC-F707/717 for as cheap as possible, from a reliable seller/store. I do not want an international model, unless there is a warranty with it. I am trying to purchase a USA model from alphadeltapistore.org but they do not carry it right now ($535.00). I was hoping to find it for under $650. please help,

Thank you,

Chris

Try a search at Cnet.com or BizRate.com

Looking only at reliable merchants, I've seen the F707 as low as $700 (I've seen lower but not from anyone I would give a credit card number.) The F717 (which I've decided is likely worth the extra money) won't go less then about $925 currently and that price is unlikely to drop till all the F707s are gone.

Before giving anyone your credit card number, I'd STRONGLY advise a visit to Photo.net's forum of on-line retailer experiances...

Buyer Beware!!!

Whoops, just looked again and my prices might be a tad high (which is good news)

When i was in Curcuit City, it was on sale there for $639, for the F707. I thought that was a good price.

I've used Pricegrabber to find both of my cameras. I always pay very close attention to the user merchant-ratings. You may want to try that.

I and a couple of my friends have used B&H photo.
(Here)
Not necessarily the lowest price, but very reliable, and easy to return items to (per my friend). I bought my G2 through them. Price was lower than any stores in Minneapolis at the time.
And I recall that my son got his Sony F707 through Sears who was having a special at the time. Lower than on the web. You should check them out also.

I got my F717 from AcesClub in New York. Warranty and everything for $820 + shipping. It came in less than a week! I have also gotten a nice set of filters for it from them, too! ($55)

I just bought a new Olympus E-20 from Digital Megastore I ordered in on Sunday night and it arrived here in Arizona Wednesday at noon. (I paid $20 extra for 2nd day shipping) The camera was brand-new and everything was in the box. Douglas was my salesman, he did try and sell me some extra stuff, (at a very good price) but the camera was all I could afford right now and he was ok with that. (so places will suddenly be out of stock if you don't buy extras) Long story short, they did just what was promised at a very good price.

Good Luck,
Roger

I went to Circuit City today and got one for $659, and it had a 32mb card with it (707). Thanks everyone very much, this camera is awesome :). Thanks Rackat!

Rackat told me that Amazon has 128mb cards for $50 and i found 5hr batts on ebay for about $25. I bought a 128 card to start out with at Circuit City for $69 after mail in rebate, so thats pretty good... well off to shooting!! Thanks everyone~! :)

Hey Chris ~
I was just in Best Buys tonight (11/21) and they had the 707 for $659! That isa great price. I also played with the F717, which looks like it's made a bit cheaper than its predecessor, despite it's enhancements. The 717 was $999. Hope you can find one.

Arrr...I bought my 707 about a week before they announced the 717 was coming out. I paid $899 for mine about 3 months ago. :(

I ordered with them about 3 weeks ago and is still back-ordered, did you talk to them personally? Is your order back-ordered too? You may want to check your order status after a day or 2, and it may change to being delayed.

I paid $830 and change for my F717 last week from digitaletailer.com...

I then FedEx'd it back to Sony to fix the FunkyFocus bug. I'm hoping it'll be on the table tonight when I get home. Even with the recall, I'm a happy camper.

btw ~ With the advent of DPC2, there will be a link to PriceGrabber.com from this site that will earn the site admins some spare change when you shop through them. I used Pricegrabber to find my deal and was real happy with it... I got reviews on the stores and could find great prices from reputable merchants... Check them out tonight once the new and improved site is online! Great prices, great reviews, and you help out Drew and Langdon at the same time! What more could you want?

I will need to talk with them to confirm my order. You very well may be right about the back order. I will keep you posted as to whether I am placed on back order as well.

I saw similar prices on PriceGrabber, but BE VERY CAREFUL!!! There are many less than reputable merchants that low ball the price till they have your credit card #... Then the ride begins!!! I researched the merchants with the lowest prices and skipped over the bottom 5 or 6 as outright thieves that MIGHT send you a grey market camera with no battery, no memory card, no manual, no nada!!!

Another common scam is to lowball the price then try and sell you overpriced assessories... If you don't buy 3 or 400 dollars worth, they tell you it's backordered and you never hear from them again. And that could well be AFTER they charge your card! Be very careful and research the merchant you buy from!!! You will likely pay $100 to $150 above the lowball merchants, but you'll get your camera with all the parts and a US warrenty and you'll get it on time.

Buyer Beware!!! If it sounds too good to be true, it most likely is!

Well after looking at this site Here I am canceling my order first thing in the morning!

rj324 I would suggest you do the same.

I would also like to say I spent time on the phone with them and they were terrible to talk to. A woman actually started laughing while I was on the phone with her at my confusion of their length of time to ship. She was laughing so hard at me she put me on hold. There wasnt even anything funny about my question of " why will the shipping take so long?" I was told it would take 14 days to ship the camera.

I bought my F707 at the end of September from digitalliquidators.com, which i found on pricescan.com. When I called to confirm the order they offered me a lower price $625. I took it and had no problems. I bought a 5 year warranty along with it. I guess each site has it's own merits. I guess I was lucky. I think digitalliquidators.com is now out of the F707.
