The previous 2nd place entry in the Bubbles challenge has been disqualified due to a violation of the Basic Editing rules.

Congratulations to Jean for her 2nd place ribbon and to Ursula for her 3rd place ribbon.

Holy moly what software are you people using to detect stuff like that. You guys are good.

It was still an awsome photo!

In the comments he had mentioned using gaussian blur with soft-light and screen... those advanced edits I believe

Well, they fixed the bug that made v3.80 really 'Lie When You Need To' ;)

OK, I made it to the top 10 thanks to this DQ, but I'de rather stayed in the relative obscurity of the second page - I really liked the (former) 2nd place photo...

it wasn't a matter of us not liking the image. it was a matter of it not being legal for this challenge.

I am curious, just what was considered DQ'able?

"Gaussian blur a bit, sharpened, leveled, desaturated a bit and added a border."

None of those seem to be DQ'ble - are they???

Is gaussian blur illegal?

I believe he has now edited his details section. The original details talked about Duplicate layer, gaussian blur, soft light, and screen modes. Having layers in any other mode than 'normal' is not allowed in basic editing.

I hate to say this, but the 4th place mentions a "salt and pepper filter". I'm not sure what that is...

it's used to remove small specks, much like a median cut filter or a noise reducing filter (like noise ninja or neat image). so long as it's applied to the entire image, it's considered legal even in basic editing...

how can i find the DQ'd image .. i forgot what it was! ... I love DQ!

the salt-n-pepa ("let's talk about sex, bay-bee!") filter is legal in basic, as long as it's applied to the entire image.

metatate: the dq'd shots can be found at the end of the challenge results pages. look on the very last page for this one.
