Yep....thats right. Its a contest to make a logo (details below). I'm only doing this on DPC. Whoever has the best logo I will send 10 bucks to...either paypal, money order or whatever. Knock yourselves out!
I'm about to open my Chiropractic practice. I am working on a logo and just cannot come up with anything. Here is a starting point for you guys. I would like to have a triange within a circle and the chiropractic caduceus in the center among other things. The name of the practice is Murrayville Family Chiropractic.
Things to keep in mind for the logo:
Chiropractors adjust the spine using their hands only.
It's going to be a family practice seeing many generations, including kids.
This is going to be my logo on letterhead and envelopes as well as on my signs so it must be professional looking not goth or dark and not cartoonish.
Here is a starting point:
I cant wait for the results. The contest will last 10-14 days. Thanks in advance for your hardwork.

10 bucks? Such a deal... How about a year's membership in DPC? Benefit the site that way... But it's not for me to say, obviously... Be interesting to see what folks come up with for sure.

Actually, I agree with Robert. Make that at least two years :) That's only $50! I design logos and umm... I charge at least $250 (that's about 5-10 hours of work). Execution is the easy part. Concept is where the money goes.

In addition to that, the logo needs to be camera art ready. Jpegs won't cut it. vector graphics is the way to go and not raster.

just my two cents... as usual :)

I believe annasense was looking to design some stuff for a free membership, you should PM her.

If you're serious about your business then you ought to consider spending a little more than one third the price of a customer session on your company's external appearance. An idea - yes. But a bad one. Design is not a throw away trade that anyone with a computer can do. You have to understand how your company is seen, how it communicates, how people perceive its presentation and how the eventual design is used.

How would you feel if I started a thread for "the first person to massage my spine in a satisfactory manor in a subjective competition gets $10"? You'd probably think I was undervaluing your trade. Indeed. You may well get what you pay for...

Here is my try.

If you got a massage for 10 bucks, I would say thats great. Especially if it was an amateur.
All I'm saying is that alot of people on here like to play to photos and other graphics...as I do. How many post have we seen with someone wanting a picture to look better. I'm not trying to stiff anyone, just a competition to win a buck or two.
The way I see it, if someone asked me a health realted question, I would be more than happy to help them all I could..without charging them a professional fee or consultation fee. I've even offered people on this site, and others, free care (which they are still utilizing)...just because we are part of a community with very similar hobbies.
Some people like to try a do things and ply around with graphics...if they get 10 bucks while doing so thats even better, right?
I wasn't trying to de-value anything anyone on DPC does. I'm sorry for any confusion you had with the post.
Drew

p.s. if a non-member wins....you will get a one year membership to the site.

I am sure someone else will come up with something better. Never tried to make a logo before, thought that it would be fun to play with. If I win, no need to send me $10 or anything. Just glad to help someone out.

This was fun. I love designing, tho I haven't done any logos yet.
This one is less detailed, for smaller sizes

...and my original, which I kinda went overboard with :-)

I can always change color schemes if you think the brown is too bland.

The image will look "crap" if u make it raster..

Keep in mind logos are normally a few colors at most for practical printing purposes. Printing thousands or millions of colors on business cards, letterheads, etc. will get expensive very quickly.

I suggest you consider using any ideas you get from this contest to be conceptual and then hire a graphic designer to create a practical version for everyday use. Done correctly this will last many years.

Also watch for potential copyright infringement issues as people import images to use to enhance the graphic. It may look neat, but a cease and desist order will quickly eliminate any money you save in the upfront logo design.

Good luck.

maybe that's why the prize is only $10.00...

Hmmm I guess you can say the same thing about ShutterStock.

Not to bring up that arguement again, but it was the very first thing that poppped into my head when reading that.
