Just curious what lenses the D-30 users use on their cameras?? At the moment, I've got a Canon 28-80, a Quantaray 80-200, and a sigma 17-35 super wide angle. (To make up for the magnification factor)

what have you found the best lenses to be?

I'd love to hear an answer to this, since I'm debating buying a Canon EOS D-60 vs. a Nikon D100, and a big factor in that choice is which manufacturer makes better lenses and acessories. Even if I replace the camera some day, I'm going to have a substantial investment in the stuff that attaches to it that I'd like to keep!

Um, Canon vs. Nikon is as much of a holy war as mac vs. pc. :) i think that probably the 'good' lenses of either manufacturer are pretty danged excellent. We have a Fuji S1 at my work that takes Nikon lenses, and we have a Nikkor (nikon brand lens) 105 mm macro, and a Nikkor 28-105mm zoom with a max f-stop of 3.5, which means it only cost $400 as opposed to around $1000 for the 2.8 version - i.e. it's the middle line, I think. Both are really nice. I would expect Canon to have comparable pieces at different price points. : )

One thing Canon did when they released their D30, was to give away a free accessory with it.. your choice consisted of their S800 printer (which I got, retails around £329), a Lexar 192MB USB enabled compact flash.(A friend got that, I blinked and the card had finished transferring in the meantime) and I believe the third choice was a between two lenses (I can't remember exactly) They may do something like this with the D60 as well...

But on the other hand, wasn't it simlpy a 1Gig Microdrive with the camera in the US??

I personally like the Canon accessories. They make some nice lenses... and some spectacular lenses (The L series..if your rich) and you can get some decent lower prices lenses. (Hence my Quantaray.. made by sigma but manufactured under that name for Ritz (I think that's what its called??) Camera in the states. Its decent, and it wasn't too expensive. And the Sigma super wide angle is a fantastic little lens.. but I had to sell one of my kidneys to afford it.

I am a D-30 user and I just recently bought it and I only got one lense and it is the Canon EF 28-135mm f. 3.5-5.6 IS USM
.

Here in Iceland it came with the 1Gig Microdrive.

I just recently bought my d-30 and I kinda bought it for ALL my money so I could only afford one lense. As soon as I start working this summer... more lenses, here I come!

The EOS D-30 uses Canon's USM/EF lenses vs. their older FD lenses. I have an EOS Elan and I'm trying to get my hands on a D-60. I typically use a Canon 28-70mm f2.8L lens which I absolutely love. Prior I had a Canon 35-105mm f3.5 and I can tell you that the lens change made all the difference in the world. Choose wisely young grasshopper....

I must be a photogeek, too! I also have an Elan, and not only did I get my D60, I got 2 of 'em!! I signed up on two waiting lists, and 3 months later, they both arrived within a couple weeks of each other. The second one went on E-Bay for enough to pay off the D60 PLUS a nice Sigma 170-500 zoom!

That piece of glass will join a couple other general purpose zooms (28-80 + 70-300) and a couple fast lenses (28 + 50, both f1.8) AND two Celestron telescopes that have Canon adapters (a C8 = 2032mm & a C90 = 900mm)

I have a d60 with a Canon 28-105 and I love it. I kinda miss wide angle, but i plan to purchase the Sigma 15-30 in the next month.

Bought me another lense. I bought this one: Canon EF 75-300mm f. 4.0-5.6 III USM. It works fine when I'm shooting sport events. Here are some examples:

Looks like I am the lone Nikon guy here. I am using a D1x, I usually only use 2 lenses a 17-35 2.8 and a 28-200 3.5-5.6. The two of them cover almost everything but like everyone else I would love to have a really long really fast lens like a 300 2.8. I shot some a the soo the other day if you guys would like to take a look. The built in comands just don''t work for me so cut and paste if you like //homepage.mac.com/corey988
I am also looking at the D100, can''t wait to take a look at it.
