How come my photos in raw are so sharp viewed on the raw shooter softer.
And when i convert them to jpeg they come out a little more softer?
I don't use any sharpening on raw shooter. it is strange since the shots are so sharp on the software and then come a little softer in jpeg. why's this?

There is an check box (option) on the processing tab that indicates whether sharpening should be applied or not. That way you can see what sharpening looks like in RSE without having to apply it to the jpeg.

That's what I do. I don't let RSE do the sharpening because I want better control of it inside of PhotoShop. But if you prefer, you can turn RSE's sharpening on and you might just skip PhotoShop all together.

convert them to TIFF instead of JPEG from raw shooter essentials, convert to JPEG with photoshop or photoshop elements.
not sure it will help - but TIFF is a lossless format, and the RSE software might not have the best JPEG conversion math...

I've bumped up in the same problem because I converted recently to raw.

And i felt the same. when choosing wich images to convert in RSE they look extremely sharp (even in the microsoft raw tumbnail preview) and after converted them to jpeg they are a bit softer than I saw them in raw.

hmmm... could be partially due to the greater bit-depth in raw vs jpg. Ans as soup pointed out, maybe RSE's jpg conversion/compression isn't the best.... just a couple of thoughts.

i have done raw to tiff conversions and the same thing hapens. i tried with the sharpen turned on and off...
And same thing. In the raw shooter software i visualise the photo more shaprened and when i i convert it to tiff or jpeg same thing happens.
I have tryied photoshop to do the conversion and in this software if a photo in raw is soft it will come soft in jpeg.
I wonder if the photos can appear with such sharpness why can't they keep that sharpness.

12bit to 8 bit in the conversion?

Which softare are you using to view your jpegs? Photoshop? PSP? The god-awful windows thing?

My prints after conversion from RSE to tiff are just fine, at 16x11.
