Well guys, I lost my job tonight. I'm pretty bummed about it and really, it's the worst thing that could happen in my life right now. I didn't really LOSE my job, I got transfered, but I lost all my co-workers who were my friends. I now have to work alone, and not much chance of gaining any new friends. SOOO...Come hang out with me at the (Critique) Club. I need the company.
Enough about me...

There have been 65 active members this month. (that's 19 more than there were just 5 days ago)
There were 428 requests this week, of which 40 have been critiqued so far.
There are 388 photos currently in the list awaiting CCC.
That's only 6 Critis per active member to get the total to 0!!! (we have 3 days till change over)

Also, I am still giving away the FREE DPC Membership to the CC member who contributes the most to the CC by November 6th 2005. Not only quantity, but quality will both be looked at in determining who gets my one year membership to DPC. It's not too late to join the CC. Please feel free to email Myself, Konador or Manic for info. (although I hear konador is away to university, so may be quicker to get Manic or myself)

Anyone have any CC news of their own they would like to share? Advice or Encouragement?

I want to critique more but see that most have not found them helpful. I am kind of paused at the moment wondering am I offering good advice or conveying my opinions correctly to the photographer.

Kind of like putting your feet in hot water you have to pull them out a few times until they get use to the temp. - I guess :)

Are you sending a message to the photographer informing them of their new critique? Something simple like 'You have received a Critique Club comment on your Branch photo titled xxx, I hope this information is helpful in some way'.
Most people otherwise would not go back and look for the critique.

Edit to add that I checked out your crits, and they are very good. Defintely helpful and I would encourage you to keep up the good work. Thanks for contributing.

Can I sign up for CC. Commented on all entries in 2 different challenges. It's been awhile since I've made one. I guess it's time to get back to commenting now that I'm not working as much.

Thank you, and yes I send them a PM when I complete the critique. I'll keep trying. I just don't understand when someone request a critique and then when it is received they don't find it helpful.

Don't fret...I've gotten emails from people thanking me for what a wonderful HELPFUL critique I gave them on their photo, and see the box not checked, so just cause they didn't check it, doesn't mean they didn't find it helpful.

I just LOOOVE portraits, so as soon as my internet connection is stable again (Neighboor interfearing my data transfer) I'll surely critique.
I hope it will be soon, I'm getting crazy about my modem resetting every 2 seconds and booting for 10 seconds...

If your problem is with a wireless system, maybe you could connect with dialup for this activity. You don't need to be loading up lots of pics -- once you download the one to review, the connection will be idle anyway while you compose your comment. Dialup is really only a problem if your're going through lots of photos rapidly, as during voting.

Thanks General, but it's the problem with my ADSL and the coper wire to the DSLAM. (RFI or EMI) But my ISP doesn't want to do anything about it.

Well I allready critiqued 2 and will do 1 or 2 more before going to bed.

Only 338 more to go!

If you are having "interference" on your hard-wired phone line you are entitled to immediate relief, unless the interference is caused by the FBI, NSA, or similarly subversive organization. Anything affecting your private communcations is illegal unless court-ordered or under the doubtful aegis of the Patriot Act. Tell the phone company you'll sue them for invasion of privacy, as well as reimbursement for the downtime during which their problem denied you access to a service you've paid for.

Well, I just did 3 critiques. I will do more when I'm home and on a faster connection.

Too funny, I live in Holland. We don't sue, we just complain and nothing ever happens ;)

On topic again, just did my most rewarding and Awkward critique ever!

That's not all that different ... we complain and nothing happens, then we sue and still nothing happens, except we now have a lawyer bill to pay.

Sweet! Changeover isn't until the 25th, so we still have plenty of time to get through those portraits. 115 portrait photos have already been done, so good change we'll make it through all of them. I hope to do my share today, the new job is making things difficult right now, but I'll get into a schedule, and it will work out.

I've done 10 this week.
I'll go to sleep now and start fresh in the morning....

Well, I'm starting to get Perspective II shots to critique now, so I don't know if that means the Color Portrait shots are all critiqued or not. I had one waiting in my queue because when I requested it I was exhausted. It's done now.

I've put 9 critiques behind me since Monday.
