...popped out of a bottle, and gave you 1 (one) wish to do or have ANYTHING you wanted, how would you spend that wish? Why?

ANYTHING is the key word.

Well, for myself I'd just ask that the date stamp on my camera be retroactively reset, but I'm easy to please and don't expect much out of life :-)

For (American) humankind, I'd be tempted to ask for enough money to buy all the property in New Orleans at its August market value and to settle $100,000.00 on each displaced non-property-owner, so everyone can start over elsewhere.

On a global scale, that somehow every human being could be infused with a serious dosage of compassion and a desire to work together for the (global) common good through shared marshalling of resources and other assets.

I would like to be able to speak every language in the world fluently, and all the regional dialects to go with them. I think that would be pretty sweet and I would probably have pretty good job security. It would also give me the opportunity to travel and shoot more of this beautiful and diverse world.

A long and happy life with one provision:
Not to outlive any of my kids or their kids.

For everyone to experience at least one day where they are overwhelmed by the beauty of life.

This is my favorite quote... it's from American Beauty... to me it definitely applies to photography...

"It was one of those days when it's a minute away from snowing and there's this electricity in the air, you can almost hear it. And this bag was, like, dancing with me. Like a little kid begging me to play with it. For fifteen minutes. And that's the day I knew there was this entire life behind things, and... this incredibly benevolent force, that wanted me to know there was no reason to be afraid, ever. Video's a poor excuse, I know. But it helps me remember... and I need to remember... Sometimes there's so much beauty in the world I feel like I can't take it, like my heart's going to cave in."

Probably one of my top ten favorite movies in the last ten years. And that part is one of the reasons. Most people I talk to never got the movie. The theme is the same as the subtitle.

If you like the flow and structure of that movie, then you need to see Million Dollar Hotel and Thin Red Line. All three are set up within the same framework.

Personally: the ability to always be in the right place at the right time (that covers quite a lot). ;-)

In general: The total absence or unity (take your pick) of race and religion. Think of all the time, energy, money and lives we waste bickering and killing ourselves over race and Christian/Islamic, Catholic/Protestant, Hindu/Islamic, Judaism/Islamic issues.

Careful guys, some wishes(most wishes), can become curses just as well. I'll ride out this goofy life of mine with firm conviction that I am right where I am supposed to be.

Wishing I could fly over the Alaskan mountains though, what could be the harm.
...or going to Machu Pitchu
...or being able to climb the Great Pyramid
...Easter Island
...Discovering the elusive Holy Grail.
...Ok seriously Im getting carried away now.

You don't need a genie for those (well, maybe climbing the pyramid), just determination. Set a goal and make it happen.

These would be some things for which I might consider asking...

1. A bra that fits, supports, is beautiful, and comfortable at the same time. If we can land on the moon, why is this so damned difficult?

2. A food substitute that gives 100% of all necessary vitamins, minerals, protein, fat, carbs, and whatever else we need to function at an effective level, but is low in calories and tastes like brownies.

3. Restraining bolts for my children. Well, at least the 5 year old...the other two I can handle but when you add in that third one, yikes! ;)

4. A 10-1200mm f/2.8 lens that weighs less than a pound and is made of perfect, L-quality glass. ;) ;)

Why only 10-1200mm? How about 1mm-999,000mm! And, it should have IS and artifical intelligence that tells you when you are taking a crappy photo.
