I am just awestruck. Makes me feel very, very small. It's almost simlar to the feeling I got when I first visited the Grand Canyon.

My prayers still go out to the victims.

Edit: These aren't my shots. I thought I would just share. Photos from a friend in Louisianna.

These are all so damn great - just read your small note! Where did you find these shots. Incredible stuff and worth crediting the photographer in my view.

If they were mine I would be :)

These are from a friend in Louisianna. I was just floored by the power and grandeur of these images that I just had to share. I hope you enjoy and remember the victims of one of the most devastative forces of nature our generation has seen in the United States.

What storm are looking at here? Are these Katrina - because some of the systems look to small to be a hurricane. Obviously, aside form the amazing shots my sympathies go without saying.

The photos were sent via email after she relocated to her mom's in Texas. I'm not really quite familiar with storms and hurricanes so I can't say. These were included in her email to all her friends notifying us that she was ok and safe.

Edit to say: Does anyone know if I'll get in trouble for posting these here? SC? I would gladly take them off if that were the case. I just thought I would share.

In a hurricane, the storms consist of bands, sometimes small bands that having clearings inbetween. They are quite creepy, having been through a couple myself.

Glad to know that. I'll ask her where these images came from. Should I pull them?

Thanks Mav. Good to know. I've sent my friend an email telling her it's not Katrina. How did you ever find this guy?

I was just watching tho movie Twister, and some of those shots looks just like frames from the movie, I know theyr'e not.. at least I hope they aren't, and it's a bit ironic, here in Iceland we usually don't get hurricanes but tonight some leftover hurricane is mixing with a big lowpressure area and arriving on our coastline, and I just watched Twister :)

well.. we build our houses to withstand storms like this, so it's only our cars that can be damaged.. hope mine won't though..

You guys seriously shouldn't jump strait to conclusions. For one these storms (hurricanes) will produce the same sort of cloud formations. Its not to small, a hurricane is made up of a bunch of small storms (bands), and they do indeed spawn tornadic activity. The other thing is, is that somebody may of seen photos that looked similar, but not identical.

Did you view the link I sent? They are tornados from like a few years ago.
