Thoughts on this? Too dark? Saleable?

Robert H. Treman park, Ithaca, NY

Thanks in advance!

Wow, awesome shot. It's seems a little soft to me (NI?) but otherwise it is a good shot. Still a little snapshotty with the railing and all... just IMHO. Ithaca's gorges are a greaaat place to explore --- keep it coming!

Soft? No Neat Image. Used a Bogen tripod, mirror lock-up, and a cable release. Anyone else think it's soft?

Snapshotty, huh? Hmmm, LOL, the railing was completely intentional. I was looking for a different angle other than the typical straight on waterfall pic. Others not like the railing?

Thanks for being honest! I do appreciate it. :-)

Left a comment. I love waterfall shots myself. =) The angle I believe works here though some of the brightness in the rocks pull your eye in that direction. (Such as the bottom left brick).

Good work.

I rather like the composition, myself. It's a unique angle that differentiates it from just any old waterfall.

I would love to see it as a larger shot, though. The size that it is now makes the waterfall look almost fake, just because of the soft texture of the water as compared to the more rough look of the stones and other surroundings.

All in all, if I had some extra money on hand, I'd buy it. :) I love black & whites!

I didn't mean to come off as antagonistic or harsh! Just gave you what I thought :-D

The softness may be due to compression, it's just a little too cluttered at 640, especially by some of the rocks. Just what I'm seeing --- my monitor is not known to be the greatest.

As far as the railing... I don't have a problem with the railing itself (good leading lines) but I find the "snapshotty" (which was for lack of a better word) aspect of it to be the path on the left which seems distracting. You could easily crop that out just having the railing on the side. A compositional element such as that railing IMHO does not need breathing room that, say, the focal point of the image usually does.

Just me :) I still love your work!

Looks like what folks call the "grunge look" . Kinda interesting has the water looks smooth and the rest has that feel.
