When I download images from 20D into CS2, my resolution automatically is at 72dpi, I am using (L) large uncompressed jpgs usually. If I want to change the resloution to 300dpi for printing an 8x10, must I physically do so in CS2 in "Image size" command?

For an 8x10 you'd have to use the crop feature and you can set your dpi to 300 there.
