I think I brought this idea up a long time ago, but I can't remember. This would be a great challenge for a few laughs. I think everyone knows what demotivational posters are?

I really, really like this idea. - assuming you mean a sarcastic spin on the motivational poster.

A long time back I had a sweatshirt that I loved, but my mom hated....

It read "Group Therapy", had a line of people with their heads pushed ear to ear and the guy at the end had a gun barrel stuck in his ear.

There's a website that sells demotivational posters and calenders.

And they're very funny. I have some favorites.

I like this challenge idea, but we'd have to be careful in titling and writing a description for the challenge. Demotivators and Demotivation are both trademarks of Despair, Inc.

Any suggestions?

How about a challenge called "anti-inspiration" and a description about going to the sarcastic side of those silly inspiration posters. That shouldn't get us into any trademark trouble

Non-Motivational Poster

Wait a minute. How can a word in the english language be trademarked? It's a word, not a name.

Well, in that case...I think we should call them Unmotivational Posters, and NOT trademark it under any circumstances for the sake of free speech.

I put this up a while back, I know it's photo art but it started as a photo...

Demotivating Posters

We have all seen "motivational" posters, pretty pictures with a caption intended to inspire us in our work. Take a picture and add a caption intended to achieve the opposite of a motivational poster.

Rules amendment to permit the addition of text.

"Demotivate"

I went to Dictionary.com and if someone could verify it's existance in a few print dictionaries then we should be safe. You can't trademark a common use word. (Even in the case of Microsoft's "Windows" the trademark is only good in the context of a computer GUI and computer product name. And even it has barely withstood legal attacks."

this would be a fun topic.

while I like this Idea
would we not end up voting a large part of the score on the text not the photograph this would help those with a better grasp of English
maybe we should give a list of ten different sayings and entrants must pick one of those and take a shot to fit.. this would put the focus back on the photography
