I can't tell the difference. Help me see what I am looking for.

The neat image is fine. The picture itself is murky, needs some work with levels/curves IMO.

Looks good. I would go back and apply a slight USM to the image (or maybe jsut the bald guy) just to regain some clarity.

I ran it through for you.

USM is as follows:
Amount: 265%
Radius: 0.3
Threshold: 1

If you have any questions feel free to ask,

Since CS2, I haven't even used NI. CS2 has some very good tools for noise reduction. When an image is real bad, I prefer manually fixing it, 1000-1600% zoom, manual blur tool. As an exmaple, I was fixing an old, heavily compressed Sony Mavica 1.2MP shot the other day, no noise reduction software used:

Open each from the thumbnail, and switch between them in the taskbar:

Just takes patience...

I've looked at both images and see no difference. Do you need neat image to see a differenct? I know with nearly all the pictures I look at in DP, I hardly ever see any grain or noise, yet everybody seems to see it with my images. Must be my monitor.

Looks like the Neat image removed most of the noise...

Look at the mountain in the background and closely at the skin. The mountains have a lot of greenish noise whereas the skin doesn't look very smooth in the original.

The mountain and skin looks much better in the edited version. At least, that is what I see.

edit: BradP's image, not the original post

Great work with PS CS2. Did you use a mask or just blur? AND ... is the last girl goosing the 3rd girl, it looks like they are having far to much fun. ;)

Just takes patience...
