It is human nature to notice the negative and gripe about it, so I wish to acknowledge the positive here. I am in awe of the wonderful photos in this competition. There are so many that are inspiring, a joy to see, and I would like to congratulate the photogs out there. You have made this voting round a pleasure!

I'm trying to comment on all 200+ photos this challenge, so sorry if I don't have time to sugar coat everything. I'm figuring that people would rather have a harsh opinion than none at all.
Edit: Having said that, I hope everything I say is constructive!

I don't think people here are as soft as they were a year or so ago. I did the same for the Illusion challenge and only got one PM. I'm like you. Don't believe in sugarcoating except on frosted flakes....

being blunt is a-okay as long as you know what you're talking about..

| There's absolutely nothing wrong with a blunt comment. Personally I'd much rather have blunt comments than no comments at all. The blunt ones still help me improve my work. |

You don't have to improve much though.. You're probably better then 99,5% of the rest of the users on this site. :-)

im pretty happy with the comments that ive recieved. good or bad ill take em.some people like what i do some dont, thats just how it is.

I am not going to "acknowledge the negative", nor am I going to whine about my score. Couldn't care less for that.
But I do want to use this thread, to say "Thank you" to those photos indeed inspiring in the challenge, but also to urge you people TO READ CHALLENGE DESCRIPTION!
To all those who could not see how some of the photos did not meet the challenge:
Please tell me, where did it say this challenge had to be about a band on stage? Where did it say that this challenge was about human voice?
Challenge said to find live music.
Now if you can't see live music around you, if you are so fixed about live music being nothing but a band on stage or a modern world's musical instrument, then I truely am feeling sorry for you.
People, open your eyes. You can not see with eyes shut!
and there's a whole world out there to see. |

This challenge has more mid-5 range gems than most challenges I've seen in a long time. It's amazing the number of great shots have been absolutely buried here.
I just want to tell everyone to dig deeper and take some time to go through the submissions in this challenge instead of just "wow" commenting on the top 10 for a change. I challenge everyone to do so :)

I am happy with my result in the challenge... I am a little confused on how some people vote. "live music" to me says:
Take a picture of someone actually playing music.
I dont think taking a picture of a musical instrument should be considered "live music"
It is ten times easier to manipulate lighting and effects in a studio and just throw an instrument in the shot and consider it "live music".
I just get a little upset when I get beat out by people who, in my oppinion, did not follow the challenge.. Yes their picture was much better than mine, because it was taken in a studio. Mine was a live show where I had no control over lights and objects. I captured a moment in time where there was actually music being played. (hints "live music"). I guess I will just have to work harder. |

I got excellent comments from photographers I admire in this challenge and 3 favourites even though it finished 5.7 ish. Thanks again to all who commented intelligently.
The usual "doesn't meet the challenge" blinkered and narrow minded set seemed out in unusual force with this challenge title.
Roll on the next ones
I predict "doesn't meet the challenge needs to have the "&" sign" for D&L and "Doesn't meetthe challenge, those are boots" for shoes.
