It's a digital photography site but i dare to ask:
I save for a Canon 350D...
But I saw today on store a Canon 1000D sold with a Canon 28-80/3.5-5.6II + a Ricoh Speed Light 303P for aprox 200$ (less if I bargain).
Any ideas? Is it worth to spend the money on it and eventually use the flash and the lens when the 350D comes or is just a waste of money and I should keep on saving for the kit 350D. Money is an issue and I am sure what I can afford now it will be all for at least 1 year.
Man I just feel like buying a camera...
PS Actually I bought a Seagull 4B1 medium format these days for $20. My daughter said she looks like a fashion photog and had fun with it for at least half an hour :)

I found a good link for it

fredmiranda

I can buy 2 Canon 50/1.8 for this money and save something even for an extra battery.

I still wait for your opinions. Might be nice to have a film back-up.

Thanks!

If you really are into this 350D donot spend money on this kit. The lens does not bring you much more range than the kit-lens for the 350D (18-55 x 1.6), its aperture is not worth the extra dollar. The flash might be a deception: many flash lights that worked OK with the EOS film cameras are not compatible with the newer digital line.
So, all in all, save some more and go digital.
That's my advice.

i would set up the digital system first, and add a compatable film body to the mix after the fact. you can get an EOS film body for like $250.00 US new. any of the EOS digital gear should work on the EOS film body as far as lenses and flashes.

Ya, save for the digital. The more money you spend on film/processing would put you that much farther away from savings for the 350, and that can add up pretty quickly.
