I will be studying in Europe this coming fall, and I was wondering how I should go about connecting my battery charger up. I know that there are several socket adapters you can buy, but I have heard that these can fry American devices since the voltages are different. I have the basic Canon charger for my Rebel, do I need something different for charging my batteries in Europe?

Check the charger that came with your camera...if it says something like 110-240V, then it will most likely work in a European outlet, once you purchase an adapter (which is much, much cheaper). I know that with my Canon, it had a charger that would work on both voltages, and my camera is older and not as good as yours, so I think you should be ok.

It was also the same for my razor...my girlfriend was happy about that.

The charger can take 110-230v. I bought my camera in Japan, and I only needed to switch to a Swedish power cord (from my old stereo) when I got home.

Thank you, that's one detail I don't need to worry about then.

You need the socket adapters, most european countries use the 2-pronged round plugs. Your rebel's battery charger is rated to be able to work from 110 to 240V. I've used mine in Europe with absolutely no problems. Just check the voltage rating on your D-Rebel charger to make sure.
