Hey yall. I've only been here a couple months, but I have to say, I think the contests are too short! As in the duration that you can turn something in. It just seems about the time I get a great idea the contest is already over. Granted the winner's work has been awesome, very creative. I guess I like to take my time with artwork. just mho.

I think the speed is part of the 'challenge' - it forces you to make a quick decision, try stuff out on a deadline, and maybe shoot things you might not usually shoot. Sort of like brainstorming. It also means we're not stuck judging the same damn set of pictures for two or three weeks straight. :->

I agree wholeheartedly with Eloise! That is the best part of this site. It makes you work hard to get your shot right and in. I MAKE myself enter every challenge as a learning experience. I've now entered 64 in a row and I couldn't put a value on what I've learned over that time. You really have to organize and plan to get decent shots. It takes more than that to come up with Top 10 shots!

I admit that now it's a little too fast for me as well .. too much pictures to vote on (400 per week). I am saturated with colors (too many challenges related to that in a row).

I myself is the capital "P" in procrastination... and this site is good coz the weekly challenges forces me to "just do it!!!" (so the commercial goes) :)

then I guess you wont like the speed challenges that pop up from time to time :~) ...there have been 24 and 48 hour speed challenges...

I do agree sometimes its takes me a week to get the juices flowing and a few more days to get a shot. Proof is in my pics....i do have some really lame shots

but i dont mind the short submission times, its all for fun and learning. If cash prizes were at stake then longer submission times are a must.

i liked the suggestion that was done not too long ago about a month-long challenge.. not sure of the best way to go about setting that up, but i'd definatly love to have a longer challenge, just like there are "faster" challenges (speed challenge)..it could be setup as a seperate challenge in itself as we dont really want to disrupt the regular schedule..
