What I would have entered had I got back in time. Entry time here is 9pm. Went to Torrey Pines Glider Port in San Diego to observe, shoot pics, and maybe fly. Sky has been 'socked in' with gray 'muck' all up the coast for some time now from a high-pressure system east of us. Too bad. Hope you like the shots just the same... my gear and other pilots...

Hope the shots are showing, I can't see them, otherwise go to my profile (?) :P

I was really hoping to get mine in as well, but it was shot a couple of weeks early. This was my first weekend out with my new s2. Any comments? I hope this is legitimate use of the outtakes thread. Sorry if not.

Work, computer problems, and plain forgot :( What do you think?

Fixing the links for beaflies.

The second one would have been my choice, I'd likely give it a 6.

The 3rd base coach was in the way, so I cropped it tight on the back foot, then I realized there was a little boy in the background. Bagged this shot, but this young girl has some power in her wind up and pitch.

My links are the only ones that are broken. I don't have a membership yet, so I haven't got anything in a portfolio. How can I get my link to work?

Edit: Got it working! Got an idea from another user who uses imageshack.

This probably would have been my entry if Sports had been under Advanced rules. It needed a lot of clean up cloning. I could have taken better advantage of this unique opportunity if there had been sun instead of overcast; and also if I had access to the field for a lower angle. I saw about a half dozen other photogs that spotted this shot, including some of the big-white-lens guys.

I'd appreciate your thoughts.

This was my first challenge entered. I got too caught up with the distractions in the backgrounds and obviously entered the the weakest of the four pictures. No action whatsoever in "Catcher". I'll probably bring it upstairs tonight and stare at it so I can get a good nights rest!!

I didn't get to enter the challenge, but here is one of the photos I took for it and considered entering.

Unfortunately I took this a few days before the challenge opened! An artistic skater just about to start her routine!

Actually Harvey I like the shot you entered MUCH more than this one. This shot doesn't work very well for me except for the gimmick value of the player being under his own banner. The cut-in-half effect of the yellow line is pretty distracting, and also his position under the legs in the banner. Like you said, if you had access to the field, then the potential for a winning shot is there, but just in my opinion, this one isn't it.

This was an experimental concept shot I did while riding (holding the camera while riding). The final shot I used for Action (below) I did by mounting the camera to the back of the bike.

Ace flyman,

I hate to say this, but I think you made a mistake. I really enjoy all your sports "outtakes". I don't know if you decided against the others for popular reasons or personal reasons, but personally I like the others much better.

Oh well, hopefully you at least take this as positive feedback for the future. Keep applying that eye and great equipment and you will ribbon very soon.

Thanks for that very honest critique 4N4M. I am very pleased with my Sports II score.

Thanks Cutter !! I needed that.
Decisions, Decisions sometimes you don’t make the right ones.
I was asked to send a few shots to be considered for JUGGS (softball equipment company) calendar for next year, I think these are the ones I’m going to submit. I’ll let you know if they accept any of them. My first chance to get published!
