Recently, I have seen several entries so diabolically clever that I have had to take the "Administrator's Note"'s word for it. So I put forth the idea of a challenge where EVERY shot looks suspect in some way. This might be tough on the Administrators, but they get paid well, right?

Seriously, what do you think? Call it an "Illusion" challenge or whatever.... I like the idea (of course I do, I brought it up)

I think that's cooool. Almost as cool as the new AOL 8.0!!! (It's really sweet!!)
I think it would be a cool challenge. Hard, yes. But I like the idea of a challenge where we "have to take their word for it".

Yea, well, I try to come up with a picture that needs an admin note EVERY week. Haven't done it yet! :-)

If this was to go ahead, to make life easier on the admins I think there should me a manditory link to the original file with EXIF data in the description.

Konador, I think that's a good idea. Or maybe to have people send an automatic email with the original info, and brief description of how it was done to the admin. OR possibly even to any of the 12 moderators(or to mods that volunteer to take on such a task) to make it easier on drew and langdon. I think that we could scan the emails, and any in question would then be sent to the admin, for final review. every photo would then start out with a DQ request, and that way, when we got verification that it was valid, the note could then be added. it would put an "order" to things, so everyone (admin/mods) would know which ones had been researched and which not. Of course, this would be an exception to the way things are normally done. I think that it would need a bit of preparing, but I think it could be done.
I mentioned emailing the original and info, because I think there could be problems we would run into if it were posted on the net to view. I think that some people might not know how to do it, or don't have a place to do it. There are places to do it like pbase, but then I think we would have the age old problem with voters "knowing who took the pic" or "being unethical" by posting prior to the end of voting.
Not sure how well my suggestion would work, but I'm just throwing out an idea here.
Any other suggestions of how this could be done?

Th admins or mods would need a week to go through all the entries verifying them. Otherwise it would be unfair on the photos that were checked out last.

This would mean a week of no voting, or, a week with 2 challenges going on.

I think this is a very intersting idea but I think it would be incredibly tedious and time consuming to verify the volume of photos. As things currently are anyone that is so inclined has the opportunity to produce a photo that is illusionary.

On a side note. I would love to see one more side category entitled 'Most Creative Photo of the Week'. This would encourage people to consider creativity much more when they are considering there weekly photos. Along with each photo there would be a check box for the most creative photo and the computer would allow only one box to be checked among the photos.

There would most likely be a tie for this title.

with 200 images and 350-odd voters, the chances are there would be 2 or 3 photos that have 10, 11 votes, with more having 9, even more 8, even more 7, etc.

Maybe a different way could be to have a panel of judges for the creativity title, while the users still vote for the best photo.

I like the "most creative photo" idea. To help lessen the chances of a tie, we could offer each voter 5 choices, and take the top photo. That increases the amount of "creativity" votes, and lessens the chance for a tie.
Right?

No, it increaces the chance of a tie :)

If there are 5 creative photos in a challenge, and 300 users have 5 votes each... then each photo will have 300 creativity votes.

However, if there is only 1 vote per voter, then the 300 will be split up (maybe unevenly, maybe not) between the 5 photos.

I think I just totally contradicted what I said in my previous post... oh well.
