I just finished a new website for one of my clients. This is the first client site I've done using Mambo and my new host, so I would appreciate if folks beat it up and let me know if you encounter any problems, before it goes live.

I've tested in IE6 and Firefox 1.0.3 in Win2000. If you encounter any problems, please let me know what browser and OS you are using, along with a descriptioin of the issue.

Website

Thanks for your help.

Just a general comment...

The initial load is quite slow using the LAN at work. Having some text show up for the viewer to read while the rest of the page is still loading can be a way around it.

I'm using IE 6.0 on Windows 2000.

agree on the initial load, way too long.

The menu text is too close to the left hand border.

Overall it's a very "standard" looking website(slightly modified standard mambo theme?), nothing "bad" but nothing great about it either.

I'm using IE 6.0 on WinXP SP2

Thanks. I made a quick change that should improve the load time. If you can, empty your browser cache and try again. It should load faster now.

Anyone else experiencing slow load times? I basically have a T1 at home, so I'm interested in someone's experience that has dial-up.

Thanks again

I'm using IE and windows xp. Loaded up fine for me. I like the look and feel of the website. It is very inviting and professional. I like that it gives the date at the top. I also like that you can get the information in acrobat, print it or email it. You may want to have an icon identifier somewhere for the computer challenged - although I see that if you point to one of them it tells you what it is.

All the links/pictures I clicked on seemed to work. I was wondering (picky, I know) if you could write "MLS" and the number on the linked pictures instead of the MLS number and "jpg".

I only did two searches for an MLS number and those were from the last property page - the commercial page (since that is the last page I looked at before the MLS link). The first one (last picture) was 10828 - when I loooked up that MLS number it came back with "no properties listed" - could have been sold? The other property on that page came up with the MLS look-up.

Overall, excellent job!

Thanks.
Load time should be resolved.
Added a little space on the left. Thanks for catching that.
Yes, it is a modified template. Did a lot of tweaking in Dreamweaver.

The intent was for a clean professional looking site, and from your comments, I got what I was looking for. =)

Thanks again. Off to a BBQ...will be back later.

the popup window that shows the house photos bigger is too small and the close and print links are too close to the frame and there is no space to the right of the photo

Couple of suggestions:

1) The property search (MLS Search) could be more prominent. I'd guess that this is the feature that will be used most.

2) The 'MLS Search'... I don't know what MLS is. Is it just a property reference ID? Would 'Property Search' be a better name?

3) The search results and pages from links such as 'Lakefront', 'Lake Access' are fine if there are only a couple of listings. Paged results might be nicer instead of long listings, so that people don't have to scroll through 20+ properties.

4) Another nice feature would be 'Order by' with options: price(high to low/ low to high) and date added .

I like the overall design, and the shallow folder depth. The 'agents' pages are a great touch. The feature makes the company connect to potential customers on a personal level.

Very professional look. Nice work.

Hope that helps. Paula

Needs a map button that links to map service and shows house on the map.

I think it's a MUST.

May I ask who you bought the template from? Is it an allwebco.com one or from someone else? Just curious as I've been looking into some recently myself...

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone for your feedback. It really helps to get other people's point of view. I'll work on incorporating a lot of these ideas into the site as I go along.

Looks pretty good, but I have one question. When I tried to change the text size, it did not change, why is that?

Not sure. I just checked in Firefox and I was able to make it bigger without a problem.

Is that a "no, you may not ask" (the silence, I mean) or did you miss the question? :o)
