We made a road trip on Saturday to Chimney Rock in Western North Carolina.

HERE are a few sample photos from that outing...

Those shots of the falls are incredible... Any chance you'll share shutter speed / aperture /ISO info?

Falls 03:1/2" / F8 / ISO 100 / -1.7EV / Hand Held

The Falls 04 shot is the lower section of the falls... This part is at the bottom of a 404' drop. The first three shots are from the top...

Those are great, John. Do you have a shot take from Chimney Rock of the vantage point from which you took the first photos?

For any of you that have seen the movie "The Last of the Mohicans", the top of the falls is where the biggest fight scene was filmed. Most of the movie was filmed in the park somewhere. Part of it was in Lake James.

Thanks -- that's a cool view. I know of a west coast version of "stairs from..." at the Pt. Reyes Lighthouse in Marin County -- one straight shot of (I think) about 300 steps, but it's not quite as precipitous!

Here's a link.

If I could be just a tad more invasive, were you (or do you normally) shot in Aperture priority, Shutter Priority, Full Auto, or Full Manual?

I find myself shooting in either fully auto or aperture priorty a majority of the time. I use fully manual mode only when shooting a still life situation where I have control of the lighting and the surroundings. I rarely use shutter priority. I would use shutter priority only when I want to either stop motion or do a panning photo. Each mode has it's strengths, depending upon the subject of the photo...
