I'm trying to just a really cheap plane ticket. I've stumbled onto Priceline.com and the 'name your own price' feature. So is there a difference if you name a lower price then a higher one and hows the travel. Do they put you through hell?
Just want to know what you think

thanks

Used it once for a friend. I purchased him a plane ticket to Chicago. He said it was just like he bought the ticket like he normally does. No diffrence. Pay attention for layovers though.

I bought a plane ticket once. Just like any other, except you don't get to pick exactly when. You can limit the maximum number of layovers (but not the length of layovers) that you will accept.

Some friencs of mine just used it to get a hotel. They were happy with it.

Anything endorsed by Captian Kirk and Mr. Spock has to be good.... doesn't it????

I used priceline to buy a ticket from Montana to Atlanta, GA - day of flight was supposed to be 9/12 - the day after the attacks on the Twin Towers. Since there were no flights that day, I didn't get to go... but I got a great price through them.

The key thing to remember is that you can not pick your own time for a Priceline flights. You pick the calendar day of your flight, and your flight could leave anytime between 6 AM and 10 PM for domestic flights, or anytime that day for international flights. The tickets are non-refundable and non-changeable, so be prepared to accept whatever you get.

Also be aware that your bid is a firm offer. If it is accepted, your seats are immediately booked and your credit card charged. You don't get to review the tickets and see if you like them first. You are also not eligible for frequent-flier miles.

If you're flexible, you can get some great deals this way! Be sure to check your other options as well, so you know what fares are available through traditional means. Then determine how much you are willing to be paid to give up your flexibility, and subtract that from the price to figure out your maximum bid.

This page is helpful to first-time Priceline users.

We used it once to fly to Hawaii. The price was good but they picked an interesting route. They ask you to choose more than one airport to get the best deal so we choose Orange County (closer but usually costs more) or Los Angeles. We figured that it would probably be from LA, but they had us fly from OC to LA change planes and then go to Hawaii. That complicated things enough that our bags didn't make it to Hawaii until the next day. It also took us longer to get home from LA since we had to wait for our flight than it would have to drive home.

So if you don't mind spending a little more time you can save some money.

I'd say anything endorsed by Kirk and Spock have got to be the greatest services available to man. (sense the sarcasm)
